This true-blue cruiser is officially the most expensive Royal Enfield bike

The final piece of the jigsaw puzzle that is the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 is finally found: the price. This Royal Enfield cruiser has officially been launched in India, and is also the most expensive bike on sale from the Chennai-based manufacturer.

What’s The Price? Who Are Its Rivals?

The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 is available in three variants – Astral, Interstellar and Celestial – with prices starting from Rs 3,48,900 (ex-showroom India) for the Astral variant. The Interstellar variant is priced at Rs 3,63,900, while the Celestial variant costs Rs 3,78,900 (both prices ex-showroom India). The main difference between the Astral and Interstellar are the range of colours offered, like every Royal Enfield bike. These two variants can also be converted into solo tourers using accessories from the brand's GMA catalogue. The top-of-the-line Celestial variant comes loaded with a range of touring accessories. Bookings of this bike has already begun in India, with deliveries slated to begin from February 1.

Despite the Super Meteor 650 being the most expensive Royal Enfield production bike, it continues to massively undercut its lone direct rival, the Kawasaki Vulcan S, by Rs 2,91,100. Thus with the middleweight cruiser currently being a niche segment in India, Royal Enfield looks to have struck gold by pricing the Super Meteor 650 on the borderline of being premium. Having said that, you could take a look at the similarly priced KTM 390 Adventure or the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650.

The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 is majorly new in every sense. This bike has made numerous public appearances, starting from its first at EICMA 2022 to its first Indian appearance at Rider Mania 2022 in Goa. Unlike some manufacturers who differentiate model specs between the international version and Indian one *cough* KTM, Yamaha *cough*, Royal Enfield sells the same bike in India as well as the export market.

Hence, see all that’s new on the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 here. Spoiler alert: this bike packs a lot of ‘firsts’ from Royal Enfield.

What Should Have Changed?

While the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 presents itself to be quite a premium package with a lot of top-notch hardware and accents, it is a bike that dents your bank balance quite a bit when you choose to bring one home. When such is the case, you’re bound to nitpick right? Hence, we would’ve liked for the instrument console to be different, as the current one is also found on the Royal Enfield Meteor 350.

Also, with this bike being based on the same platform as the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650, here’s something to help understand which bike is for you.

ZigSays

The Super Meteor 650 is Royal Enfield’s foray into big-capacity cruisers, one that conveys its ambition. It aims to fill the void that the Harley-Davidson Street 750 left, and does that at a relatively lower price point. However, there’s no denying that it is a premium built product, and hence carries flagship pricing. Has over two years of development helped Royal Enfield’s cause? Here’s our first ride review of the Super Meteor 650 to give you an answer.
