Honda has unveiled the XR300 Rally, XR300L, Rebel 300 and Rebel 500 in India, significantly expanding its motorcycle portfolio. While the motorcycles themselves are exciting enough, the bigger story is that all of them will be manufactured right here in India. From two entry-level adventure motorcycles to a pair of cruisers, Honda is finally filling some of the biggest gaps in its lineup, and enthusiasts finally have plenty to look forward to.

Honda XR300 Rally: Finally, An Entry-Level Honda ADV

Adventure motorcycles are gaining popularity in India, but Honda's presence has so far been limited to the NX500, which sits in a much higher price bracket. The XR300 Rally should change that by becoming Honda's first truly accessible proper adventure motorcycle for Indian buyers.

Unlike the international model that uses a 286cc liquid-cooled engine, the India-spec XR300 Rally is powered by the familiar 293.5cc single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine from the CB300F. It produces 26.9 PS and 26.6 Nm, paired with a six-speed gearbox. While some enthusiasts may miss the international motor, the locally-sourced engine should help Honda keep costs under control.

The rest of the package looks purpose-built for adventure riding. It gets rally-inspired bodywork, a TFT instrument console, long-travel suspension at both ends with a linkage-type monoshock, a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheel combination, a dual-cradle frame and disc brakes at both ends. Honda is expected to launch the XR300 Rally in December 2026 at an estimated price of Rs 2 lakh (ex-showroom).

Honda XR300L: Honda's Answer To The XPulse

Alongside the Rally variant, Honda has also unveiled the XR300L, a more stripped-back dual-purpose motorcycle sharing the same underpinnings as the Rally.

Mechanically, it shares everything with the XR300 Rally, including the 293.5cc oil-cooled engine, six-speed gearbox, suspension, 21/18-inch spoke wheels and the same off-road-friendly chassis. The biggest difference lies in its simpler bodywork, which will make it lighter and more affordable option.

If Honda manages to stick to its expected Rs 1.8 lakh (ex-showroom) price tag, the XR300L could emerge as one of the strongest alternatives to the Hero XPulse 210. More importantly, it finally gives Indian buyers an affordable Honda dual-sport motorcycle, something enthusiasts have been asking for over the years.

Like the Rally, the XR300L is expected to go on sale in December 2026.

Honda Rebel 300: An Affordable Japanese Cruiser

Royal Enfield has dominated India's affordable cruiser segment for years with motorcycles like the Meteor 350. Honda now looks ready to challenge that dominance with the upcoming Rebel 300.

The Rebel 300 carries the same low-slung, bobber-inspired styling that has made the motorcycle popular internationally. Its minimalist design, relaxed ergonomics and approachable nature make it a lifestyle motorcycle rather than an outright performance cruiser.

Power comes from a 286cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, and Honda will offer the motorcycle in both standard and E-Clutch variants. Local manufacturing could also allow Honda to position it competitively against the Meteor 350 while giving buyers a refined Japanese alternative in the segment.

The Rebel 300 is expected to be launched in December 2026 at around Rs 2.6 lakh (ex-showroom).

Honda Rebel 500

The Rebel 500 isn't entirely new to India. Honda had previously launched the motorcycle here exclusively with its E-Clutch technology. This time around, however, things are different. With local manufacturing now on the cards, the Rebel 500 has the potential to become far more accessible than before. The bike was earlier priced at Rs 5.12 lakh (ex-showroom), but with localisation, the price is expected to go down exponentially.

Powered by a 471cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that makes 47.5 PS and 43.3 Nm, the Rebel 500 offers a distinctly different proposition from the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650. While both target riders looking for a relaxed middleweight cruiser, the Honda counters with a smoother twin-cylinder motor, lighter feel and typical Japanese refinement.

Like the Rebel 300, it will be available in both Standard and E-Clutch variants.

Honda has finally addressed one of the biggest criticisms enthusiasts have had for years: its lack of accessible adventure motorcycles. The XR300 Rally and XR300L bring the brand into one of India's fastest-growing segments, although they do so with a different engine from the international models. That said, when we rode the 293.5cc oil-cooled motor on the CB300F, it was not so fun and had quite a lot of vibrations. Instead of the CB300F’s motor, it would’ve been far better if Honda just got the international-spec CRF 300 in India.

The Rebel lineup is promising. Local manufacturing could make both cruisers significantly more accessible, especially the Rebel 500. More importantly, the 471cc parallel-twin engine is the same family of engine that underpins motorcycles like the CBR500R and CB500 Hornet globally. With Honda now committing to local production of the Rebel 500, we're hopeful this is just the beginning. If all goes well, perhaps the other two bikes which share the same engine won't remain wishlist products for Indian enthusiasts for much longer.
