Kawasaki has rolled out the 2026 Vulcan S and Z650RS in India, following the same playbook we’ve seen with other recent updates like the Ninja 650, Versys 650, and Ninja 1100SX. And just like those, if you’re expecting major changes with the new model year badge, it’s best to temper expectations. These are largely carryover models, with cosmetic updates, E20 fuel compliance, and price revisions.
The 2026 Kawasaki Vulcan S is priced at Rs 8.13 lakh, a whopping Rs 54,000 more than before. The 2024 Vulcan cost Rs 7.59 lakh (ex-showroom). Mechanically and feature-wise, the Vulcan S remains identical to the previous model. It continues with the familiar 649cc parallel-twin engine, producing 61PS and 62.4Nm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox and assist & slipper clutch.

Features like LED lighting, analogue-digital instrumentation, and adjustable levers were already part of the package. The only noticeable update is the new Metallic Flat Spark Black colour scheme, along with E20 fuel compliance. You also still get the low seat height, forward-set footpegs, and relaxed-yet-sporty cruiser ergonomics.
The 2026 Kawasaki Z650RS launched at Rs 7.83 lakh (ex-showroom), is Rs 14,000 more expensive than the 2025 model. Kawasaki’s neo-retro middleweight continues unchanged in terms of hardware and features. The 649cc parallel-twin engine still makes 68PS and 64Nm, delivering the same smooth performance that suits both city riding and relaxed highway cruising.

The lightweight trellis frame, upright ergonomics, 820mm seat height, and balanced suspension setup are all carried over as-is. You also continue to get traction control, an assist & slipper clutch, all-LED lighting, analogue tachometer and speedometer with a small LCD inlay, and basic Bluetooth connectivity – none of which are new. What’s new are the Metallic Ocean Blue colour, a brush metal insert on the side panels, and compliance with E20 petrol.
Sure, the Z650RS is costlier, but it isn’t as much as to affect your buying decision. However, things are a bit more tricky for the Vulcan as it has gone past the Rs 8 lakh mark. If you’re super keen on owning the only Japanese 650cc cruiser in India, then it makes sense. Otherwise, the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 should offer you a close-enough cruiser experience for literally half the price. And we’re talking about the top-end Celestial variant priced at Rs 4,32,362 (ex-showroom).
