Quick Read:

  • The engine now makes more torque than before

  • Gets smaller brake discs at both ends

  • All-new Metallic Carbon Gray colour with green highlights

Kawasaki has given the Vulcan S a few updates for 2027. The cruiser continues with the same basic mechanical package as before, but gets a small increase in torque, revised brake disc sizes and a new colour option. Priced at Rs 8.23 lakh (ex-showroom), it is now Rs 10,000 more expensive than the outgoing model.

Visually, the cruiser gets a new Metallic Carbon Gray paint scheme with subtle bluish-green highlights. This replaces the Metallic Flat Spark Black colour offered on the 2026 model. The biggest change is to the 649cc parallel-twin engine. The 2026 model produced 61 Nm of torque, which was 1.4 Nm less than the older version. Kawasaki has now brought the torque output back up to 62.4 Nm, however, the power output remains unchanged at 61 PS, and there are no changes to the engine’s rev range or power delivery.

The Kawasaki Vulcan S also gets smaller brake discs. Up front, it now uses a smaller 272 mm disc instead of the previous 300 mm unit. At the rear, the disc size has dropped from 250 mm to 216 mm. The rest of the Vulcan S remains largely the same. It continues with an analogue-digital instrument console and dual-channel ABS as its only rider aid.

The suspension setup is also unchanged, with a 41mm front fork offering 130mm of travel and a rear monoshock with 80mm of travel and adjustable preload. The bike retains its low 705mm seat height, while ground clearance remains at just 130mm. Kerb weight also stays at 235kg.

The 2027 Vulcan S gets some small updates rather than major ones. The extra torque is welcome, while the new colour gives it a fresher look. However, the smaller brake discs are an interesting change which could affect its overall braking performance. However, this is something we will be able to tell after riding it. At Rs 8.23 lakh, it is also considerably more expensive than the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, which is the only cruiser bike in the segment.
