2022 Kawasaki Versys 650 Review | Best Beginner Big Bike?

Kawasaki has updated the Versys 650 and Ninja 1100SX for 2026, similar to what happened with the Ninja 650 recently. But before you get carried away by the MY26 badges, here’s the straight talk: both motorcycles are largely unchanged from their 2025 versions. This is more of a model-year rollover than a proper update – with fresh colours, and revised pricing.
The 2026 Kawasaki Versys 650 is now priced at Rs 8.63 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes it Rs 15,000 more expensive than the 2025 model, which is priced at Rs 8.48 lakh (still on sale). Mechanically and feature-wise, it is identical to the outgoing model. The familiar 649cc parallel-twin engine continues to deliver 67PS and 61Nm, paired with the same long-travel suspension, upright touring ergonomics, 21-litre fuel tank, and 17-inch wheels that have always defined the Versys experience.

Features like traction control, the 4.3-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity, full LED lighting, and the adjustable windshield were already present earlier and are not new for 2026. The only 'real' changes are E20 fuel compliance and the new Metallic Graphite Gray / Metallic Spark Black colour scheme.
The story is similar with the 2026 Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX, launched at Rs 14.42 lakh (ex-showroom). However, this Kawasaki bike sees no price hike. The sport-tourer carries forward its 1,099cc inline-four engine producing 136PS and 113Nm, along with its extensive electronics suite that includes integrated riding modes, traction control, IMU-based safety systems, quickshifter, cruise control, and a TFT display with smartphone connectivity. All of this was already available on the 2025 bike. For 2026, Kawasaki has made the engine E20 fuel compliant, and introduced a new Metallic Brilliant Golden Black / Metallic Carbon Gray paint scheme – yes, that’s it.

If you’re looking at either of these motorcycles, the MY26 badge alone shouldn’t sway your decision. There’s no functional or experiential difference between the 2025 and 2026 models of the Versys 650 or Ninja 1100SX. If you can find a 2025 bike at a better price, it’s the smarter buy. Save the extra cash for accessories, luggage, or riding gear – things that will actually make your touring life better.
