The Yamaha R15 has crossed a major milestone, which is crossing the 1 million production mark. This has made it one the most produced bikes in Yamaha India’s lineup. It is also the most popular supersport offering from the Japanese manufacturer in India, with more than 90 percent of the units being sold here.
The Yamaha R15 has been quite a popular model among supersport enthusiasts. The aggressive design and styling, along with the good performance made it a favorite. The bike was first launched here in India, way back in 2008. Over the years, the brand had made many changes to the bike, keeping it competitive.

Currently, the brand is selling the bike in 3 variants and here’s a detailed breakdown of the prices.

Yamaha R15 V4 |

The R15 S is the more affordable variant, and it features a single-piece seat and a conventional telescopic fork. The Yamaha R15 V4 is the mid-spec variant which has a split-seat setup with an inverted fork along with features like a traction control system and a quickshifter for upshifts. The R15M, on the other hand, offers more premium styling overall.

Other than these styling and feature differences, all 3 variants get the same engine – 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine which produces 18.4PS and 14.2Nm. The Yamaha R15 goes up against other supersports in the 150-200cc segment such as the Hero Karizma XMR 210, the recently launched 2025 Bajaj Pulsar RS200 and the KTM RC200.
