Hero Glamour X 125 vs Xtreme 125R: Top 5 Differences highlights

The Hero Glamour X 125 and the Hero Xtreme 125R are two models in the highly competitive 125cc segment. But the differences between the two are massive. Here’s how they stack up against each other:

Design

The first major difference between the two motorcycles is in terms of the design. The Hero Glamour X 125 is a premium commuter and it takes inspiration from the Glamour Xtec model to a great extent. But Hero has managed to make it look different, giving it a unique identity of its own. The large red coloured X on the sharp tank extensions combined with premium looking metallic ‘Glamour’ badging makes the bike stand apart.

The Hero Xtreme 125R is meant to be a sporty commuter. Hero has done a really good job making the bike look and feel like a higher-capacity streetfighter. The headlight design, and the aggressively sculpted tank, along with the tank extensions, seem to have taken inspiration from literclass bikes.

Overall, the Xtreme 125R has managed to carve out a unique identity of its own with its aggressive looks.

Console

Coming to the next major change, the consoles offered on both models are very different. The Glamour gets a colour LCD unit which looks similar to the one offered on the Hero Xtreme 250R. The console looks quite premium and offers essential readouts in a clean and easy-to-read manner.

The Hero Xtreme 125R gets a very basic-looking LCD console, which can feel a bit small. The console offers essential readouts but can feel cramped.

Overall, it doesn’t feel as premium as some may expect, especially compared to the Glamour X, and takes away from the Xtreme 125R’s appeal.

Riding Aids

Now, the Glamour X 125 is one bike which has features that were never seen before in this segment. The bike comes with a ride-by-wire throttle, for riding aids such as riding modes and cruise control.

The bike has three riding modes: Eco, Rain and Power, which modulate the power delivery. This will come in handy when riding in different conditions, say for example in the rain, where a milder power delivery will help in keeping the rider safer. The cruise control options is another major feature, and a segment first. This should make highway riding a lot less fatiguing as the rider won’t have to constantly work the throttle.

The Hero Xtreme 125R doesn’t offer any riding aids, but it gets single-channel ABS in the ABS-variant. The addition of single-channel ABS has really elevated the bike’s overall safety quotient. This is one feature which we think can be a lot more useful than cruise control, because getting empty stretches of highways these days are very rare. So the overall usefulness of cruise control on a 125cc bike is not clear.

Underpinnings

The Hero Glamour X 125 is a commuter bike, and Hero has decided to offer it with 18-inch alloy wheels at both ends. This setup should help it offer a comfortable ride over bad patches of road,

The Xtreme 125R, being the sportier bike, gets smaller 17-inch alloy wheels. The use of 17-inch wheels should allow for  better handling, making it more nimble. This will help riders change directions quickly, something important when riding in the twisties. It has a 37mm telescopic fork which is the largest in segment. On the ABS variants, the bike comes with a 276mm disc brake, which again is the largest in the 125cc segment. So overall, safety-wise, the Xtreme 125R is further ahead.
