One of the highly anticipated motorcycles of the year, the Aprilia RS 457, has been launched in India at India Bike Week (IBW) 2023.

What’s The Price? Who Are Its Rivals?

With a price tag of Rs 4,10,000 (ex-showroom Maharashtra), the RS 457 is Rs 91, 827 costlier than the KTM RC 390 and Rs 1,14,000 more affordable than the Kawasaki Ninja 400. Another one of its rivals will be the upcoming Yamaha R3. 

Bookings for the motorcycle will start from December 15, 2023 for an amount of Rs 10,000. The deliveries of the motorcycles will tentatively start from March 2024 onwards.

What’s New?

The Aprilia RS 457 is an all-new motorcycle and it just looks stunning! The motorcycle takes its design inspiration from the RS 660 with muscular styling that makes it look really aggressive all around. 

It packs a lot of impressive hardware and features underneath. Let’s take a look at them:  

- 457cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin cylinder engine that produces 47.6PS and 43.5Nm

- 6-speed gearbox with quickshifter available as optional

- Twin-spar aluminium frame and steel swingarm

- 41mm inverted  fork (120mm wheel travel) and monoshock (130mm wheel travel) suspension setup with preload adjustability for both

- 320mm front disc with a 4-piston radial caliper and 220mm rear disc brake setup with dual-channel ABS and supermoto mode

- 110/70 (front) and 150/60 (rear) TVS Eurogrip Protorq Extreme tyres 

- Kerb weight: 175kg, making it 7kg heavier than the Kawasaki Ninja 400

- Seat Height: 800mm

- Fuel tank capacity: 13 litres

- Ride-by-wire system and three riding modes

- Three levels of traction control that can be turned off

- Underbelly exhaust

- 5-inch TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity as optional

With the Aprilia RS 457’s launch, the sub-500cc multi-cylinder segment has gotten much more exciting. The Kawasaki Ninja 400 has been the segment’s lone flag-bearer for a while but now the RS 457 has arrived to give the Japanese motorcycle some healthy competition. That too at a much affordable price tag, which will surely make this segment more appealing and approachable for Indian buyers. And with the Yamaha R3 getting launched in less than a week’s time, things are just starting to heat up!
