Mahindra has commenced bookings for its all-electric SUV, the XUV400, on the occasion of India’s 74th Republic day. Interested customers can reserve their SUV either at Mahindra’s dealership or its online website for a token amount of Rs 21,000. Prices of the XUV400, which comes in two broad trims, have been mentioned in this table below:
XUV400 Variants |
Price (ex-showroom) |
EC (3.3kW charger) |
Rs 15.99 lakh |
EC (7.2kW charger) |
Rs 16.49 lakh |
EL (7.2kW charger) |
Rs 18.99 lakh |
Mind you, these are introductory prices, limited to 5,000 units of each variant. So be quick in reserving the SUV if you had your eyes on one.
The Mahindra XUV400 has already started reaching dealerships and there a handful of differentiators when compared to its ICE sibling, the XUV300. For starters, the electric SUV is longer than the four metre mark as EVs needn’t qualify for sub-4 metre taxation. It also gets a closed-off fascia with contrasting copper-coloured bits to denote it’s an EV.

The XUV400 is offered with two battery choices: a base 34.5kWh and a larger 39.4kWh unit. Regardless of the battery pack you pick, the electric SUV is powered by a 150PS electric motor driving the front wheels. It’s also quick, covering the 0-100kmph run in 8.3 seconds. The standard battery has a MIDC-claimed range of 375km, while in the long range variant, that number goes up to 456km.
Also, in case you intend to own a special one-off XUV400, Mahindra will be opening an auction for the one-off 'Rimzim Dadu X Bose’ edition, which gets bespoke colour and touches, from today onwards. The keys to this one-off SUV will be handed over by Anand Mahindra at the upcoming India’s maiden Formula-e Grand Prix weekend on November 10. You can check out the SUV here in our report, while if you’re interested to participate in the auction, head here.
