The OG Himalayan is expected to launch sooner than you think!

Himalayan 440

Royal Enfield could launch the Himalayan 440 soon. The upcoming bike will be based on the Scram 440 and will be a more affordable alternative to the Himalayan 450. Here's what we know so far:

The Return Of The Legend

The Himalayan 440 is expected to be launched in India in September 2026. It will be positioned below the Himalayan 450.

Old-School With A Modern Twist

The bike is expected to be powered by the same 443cc, air- and oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine as the Scram 440. It should produce the same 25.4 PS and 34 Nm, and will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox. We expect the addition of an extra gear would help it out on the highway, where the older 411 struggled a bit.

Just like the older Himalayan, the upcoming Royal Enfield bike will get a telescopic fork and a monoshock. It is expected to continue the same spoke wheel setup as well, a 21-inch front and a 17-inch rear. Safety aspects should include the same setup as the previous bike, disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS and switchable for the rear.

As for the looks, people always loved the way the older Himalayan was. It is expected that Royal Enfield will carry out the same rugged, utilitarian look for the newer version as well. All said and done, we do hope Royal Enfield gives the upcoming Himalayan the same instrument console as the 411, something which peopled absolutely adored.

Why Is It Coming Back?

The upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 will essentially be for people who want an old-school adventure bike with a long-stroke thumper. Something which the Himalayan 450 does not get. People who owned the 411 often complained about the lack of feel after riding the Himalayan 450 and said that there were too many electronics to play with. The Himalayan 440 will be for those exact people looking for an old-school experience with modern-day reliability and an additional gear for better highway cruising.

Himalayan 440

With an expected price of around Rs 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom), the Himalayan 440 will slot right in between the Scram 440 and the Himalayan 450. This will make it a great option for riders looking for a capable yet affordable adventure touring bike without emptying their wallets.
