Honda recently launched the 2025 Shine 100, which is the most affordable Honda bike in India. The closest competitor to the Honda Shine 100 is the Hero Splendor Plus, the best selling bike in India. Lets compare the specifications of these two 100cc commuter motorcycles.

Despite the Honda Shine 100 having a slightly bigger engine at 98.98cc, it produces slightly less power. That said, its peak torque is delivered at 5000rpm which is 1000rpm earlier than the Splendor Plus. This coupled with the significant weight advantage should make the Shine 100 slightly quicker theoretically.

Both bikes get the same suspension setup, which should be adequate for daily commutes. When it comes to braking, the Splendor has a slight advantage as it gets a bigger rear brake. The Splendor’s larger 18-inch alloy wheels should theoretically be better at handling rough terrain when compared to Shine 100’s 17-inch alloy wheels. Another point to mention is that the alloy wheels on the Splendor have tubeless tyres while the Honda Shine 100 gets tubed ones. The former can handle punctures much easier than the latter.

In terms of features the Honda Shine 100 is quite a basic motorcycle. It gets a twin pod analogue instrument console with warning lights and an odometer.
The Hero Splendor Plus too, is quite a basic motorcycle. It also gets a twin pod analogue instrument console with warning lights and an odometer. While we are comparing only the base variant of the Splendor Plus, do note that Hero offers much more features such as a fully digital instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity, LED DRL, idling stop-start tech (to enhance mileage on traffic-riddled roads) and even a front disc brake on more premium variants. On the other hand, Honda offers the Shine in only one trim.
The Shine’s light weight nature should also help in offering good mileage. The saddle heights are almost identical between the Shine 100 and Splendor Plus with only 1mm of difference. Shorter riders should have no problems in getting on or off either of the bikes.

In terms of the pricing the Honda Shine 100 is a much more affordable motorcycle as it is Rs 10,276 cheaper than the Splendor. Both bikes are almost evenly matched in terms of specifications and features, so the Shine offers a better value for money on paper, especially at that price point.
