The festive mood is real in India’s two-wheeler market. Hero MotoCorp reported 6,87,220 units dispatched in September, up 8% Year-on-Year. It also became the first Indian company to cross 125 million (12.5 crore) two-wheelers produced.
Hero bikes dominated sales with 6,26,217 units, while scooters rose to 61,003 units. The Hero Splendor range continues to lead, and honestly, even we’ve lost count as to how many consecutive years it has been doing this.

In fact, the brand has unveiled special edition variants of the Hero Passion Plus, Splendor Plus as well as the Vida VX2. The two bikes get grey paint schemes with fancy gold pinstripe-esque graphics, along with rim stickers. The Vida, on the other hand, just gets a commemorative badge on the apron. While the prices haven’t been revealed yet (they might happen real soon, though), expect them to cost around Rs 1,000 over the currently-existing top-end variants of the respective two-wheelers.
Hero’s electric (not Hero Electric) sub-brand, Vida, recorded 12,736 registrations – pushing its market share from 4.7% to 12.2% year-on-year. This shows Hero’s strategy of “slow and steady wins the race” is working. The Vida VX2 with its impressively low pricing (thanks to the BaaS scheme), yet good build quality seems to have done wonders.

Global sales are on the rise too. September exports reached 39,638 units, nearly double last year, supported by models like Hunk 125R (re-badged Hero Xtreme 125R), Hunk 160, and HR Deluxe. Q2 dispatches globally hit a record 1,11,584 units.
Festive spending, Hero’s expanded product portfolio, and of course – GST 2.0 price revisions are the key drivers for Hero’s sales performance in September. Hero’s 125 million production milestone’s timing, and the introduction of new special variants are also pretty bang-on.
