Ducati has launched the Hypermotard V2 in India; prices start from Rs 16,53,000. Here is everything you need to know about the supermoto bike:
The SuperMoto Stance

The Hypermotard V2 is undoubtedly one of the hottest supermotos out there. The angular headlamp unit with sharp DRL complements the bike. The exposed engine, with the big radiator at the front, gives the bike a compact look. Its upswept twin exhausts go well with the overall bike's silhouette.
The sharp tank extensions, seat cowl and the exposed chassis with red accents grab your attention. Also, the bike gets its turn signals integrated on the knuckle guards; that makes the bike look well packaged.

The bike is available in two unique shades; depending on the variant you select, the standard V2 SP gets the iconic Ducati red colour. It gets a red tank extension and fork protectors, which gives the bike a mature stance.
Our favourite shade is the SP Livery. It gets a grey shade as its base and ‘SP’ graphics on the fuel tank with white wheels that make the bike stand out. Also, it gets a dual-tone seat, which gives the bike a sportier stance.
Engine Specifications

Powering the bike is an 890 cc V2 engine; the motor produces 120 PS at 10,750 rpm and a peak torque of 94 Nm at 8,250 rpm. It gets a variable intake valve timing system, which the brand claims improves the responsiveness across the rev ranges. Additionally, 70 percent of the torque is available at 3,000 rpm itself – it should give a punchy ride overall.
With all the power the bike doesn't come with any extra baggage. The motor only weighs 54.4 kg, if you want to get naughty on the racetrack, the racing exhaust increases the power output by 3.6 PS and a weight reduction of 4 kg.
Underpinnings

The Hypermotard V2 sits on a monocoque frame in which the engine acts as a structural element and gets a double-sided aluminium swingarm at the rear. With all these changes, the current-gen bike weighs 13 kg lighter for the standard V2 and 14 kg for the SP variant.

The V2 SP hosts more premium components than the standard V2, and the forged aluminium wheels will be lighter than the cast-alloy wheels. That should take a bit of weight from the unsprung mass section and give the bike a better handling than the standard version.
The standard version gets a lead-acid battery, and the V2 SP gets a lithium battery, which is lighter.
The bike gets a saddle height of 880 mm, which can be lowered to 865 mm with a low seat accessory. If you still want an even lower seat height, you can combine the lower seat accessory and the low-suspension kit and bring it down to 850 mm.
Features

It gets a 5-inch TFT display and mobile connectivity via Ducati Link app. It gets call/SMS alerts, headset controls and navigation. The bike gets 3 riding modes: Road, Road Pro and Track. These modes alter the power output according to the mode selected.
On the safety front, it gets a 6-axis IMU (inertial measurement unit) which enables features such as cornering ABS with four stages of adjustability, traction control, and wheelie control.
Additionally, the bike gets a quickshifter, and engine brake control that prevents the rear wheel from locking up, while doing aggressive down shifts. Also, the V2 SP gets features such as Ducati Power Launch and a Pit Limiter as standard, which are launch control and a speed limiter, which come in handy during track days.
ZigSays
If you are looking for something unique, the Hypermotard V2 might ring some bells. The supermoto makes a unique proposition, and with the new engine and the weight reduction, the bike has become a convincing option. If you are planning to buy a really fun motorcycle with unique characteristics this Diwali, the Hypermotard is an option worth considering.
