UM Motorcycles discloses details of dealership network in India

Despite its absence on the Indian shores up until this year, UM Motorcycles has had a loud buzz surrounding it in the sub-continent. And capitalising on its soaring popularity following three launches at the 2016 Auto Expo, the American manufacturer has revealed details about its Indian dealership network, spreading across 25 cities in the country. While Maharashtra alone gets half-a-dozen UM outlets, Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon and Chandigarh also get one each.

UM Motorcycles took to its Facebook page to announce its ‪#‎UMintheCity campaign for its dealership network. “Time to bring out the rebel in you (be)cause the new Renegade Siblings are soon going to be in your city. So, get in touch with your Dealer and book your Renegade now,” it said.‬‬

Apart from the aforementioned locations, other cities like Amritsar, Lucknow, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Surat, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Kochi, Coimbatore, Chennai, Madurai, Guwahati, Imphal and Aizawl comprise the extensive UM dealership network.

UM Motorcycles has entered India as a joint venture with Lohia Auto. The 50:50 venture, called UML, has already invested about Rs 250 crore at its manufacturing plant in Uttarakhand, with around 70 per cent localisation. There have also been reports claiming that UM will look to export bikes from this facility.

The brand with a five-pointed star launched its Renegade Commando, Renegade Classic, and Renegade Sport S motorcycles in India during the 2016 Auto Expo earlier this month; all bikes powered by the same 278cc, air-cooled single cylinder engine producing 25PS of power and 22Nm of torque.

While the Renegade Commando is priced at Rs 1.59 lakhs, the Sport S will cost Rs 1.49 lakhs and the Renegade Classic will be the most expensive of the lot at Rs 1.69 lakh (all ex-showroom, New Delhi).

Bookings of the bikes had commenced at the 2016 Auto Expo, and the same facility is available at UM Motorcycles' Indian website as well.
