Planning a roadtrip across the Himalayas this summer? Royal Enfield may have something for you. The company has just announced the dates of the 15th edition of the Himalayan Odyssey. The event will officially kick off on 5 July and will see participants covering a distance of 2,220km over the span of 18 days, before concluding on 22 July.
Royal Enfield will accept only 50 registrations in the men's category and 20 participants in the women's event. Both groups will start from India Gate, Delhi, and will travel towards Khardung La, which sits at 17,500 above sea level. However, the two groups will follow different routes before finally meeting at Leh.
The men's group will travel through Delhi-Chandigarh-Manali-Leh-Keylong-Kaza-Kalpa-Narkanda and back to Chandigarh. Meanwhile, the women riders will take the Delhi-Parwanoo-Narkanda-Manali-Leh-Jispa- Manali-Gushani route before heading back to Chandigarh. Each group will cover more than 300km a day on an average.
As expected, riders will enjoy the breathtaking views of the Himalayas on this trip. However, getting there won't be easy. Riders will be met with unreliable weather, unpaved roads, mountain passes and much more!
The registration fee has been set at Rs 48,000 for a solo rider and Rs 96,000 for a couple. In the women category, the fee is set at Rs 42,000 for a solo rider and Rs 84,000 for a couple. It will cover accommodation, food and medical expenses for the trip. Participants will be required to bring their own bikes and take care of the fueling expenses.
