The new bike gets a completely different rider’s triangle compared to the Roadster 650

  • Ditches chrome for blacked-out components.
  • Sports different seats, headlamp cowl and alloys.
  • Launch likely to be along with the Roadster 650.
  • It is no secret that Royal Enfield has been working on a cruiser based on the 650 platform. Likely to be called the Roadster 650, the bike has been spotted testing in near-production avatar a couple of times. Now, another test mule has been spotted with subtle changes, hinting that the manufacturer will be offering a sporty variant of the cruiser.

The first thing that’ll grab your attention is the absence of chrome. While the Roadster 650 spotted testing had chrome exhausts, instrument cluster and headlamp cluster, the sporty variant ditches all of that in favour of an all-black treatment. Upon closer inspection, you’ll notice that the bike also sports a different headlamp bezel that the Roadster 650. Even the tank and alloy wheel design isn’t the same as seen on the Roadster 650 earlier.

The new variant is not just aesthetically different. The rider’s triangle on this bike is different from what we have seen on the Roadster 650, courtesy the shorter handlebar, taller seat and neutrally positioned footpegs. Though not visible in the spy shot, we expect the new bike to come with Royal Enfield’s Tripper navigation, seen on the Meteor 350.

Both the variants are likely to use the same 648cc, parallel-twin motor from the Interceptor 650 and Continental 650 producing 47.6PS and 52Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox paired with a slip-and-assist clutch.
