Just like with the Elite i20 last year, Hyundai created quite a stir in the market when they introduced the Creta in India this July. In fact, even before the launch, the Creta had already received bookings of 10,000 units, and even three months after its launch, the demand is still as strong. However, prices for the Creta have now been hiked by Hyundai. The Korean car maker has upped the price by Rs 25,000 across all variants.
The Creta isn’t the only car from the Hyundai to suffer a hike in price. The popular Hyundai Elite i20 will now cost Rs 9,000 more for all its variants. The price hike of both these models will come into effect immediately. Now, it is worth mentioning here that after the launch of the Honda Jazz in June, Hyundai reworked the Elite i20 and introduced a touch screen infotainment to meet the segment standards. However, they didn’t raise the price of the car during this update.
While most manufacturers revise the prices of their cars towards the end of the calendar year, Hyundai has done it for the Creta and the Elite i20 a bit sooner than expected. Considering that the Hyundai Elite i20 is priced considerably cheaper than the Honda Jazz, this revision shouldn’t quite affect its sales in the festive season. But if you’re in the market for something akin to the i20 and the Jazz, you can also consider in your calculations the Maruti Suzuki Baleno that is scheduled to be launched on October 26. Meanwhile, for the Creta, it shouldn’t be much of an issue either keeping in mind the kind of equipment that the car comes with.
