Thanks to cascading grille, the Creta looks more mature

As the São Paulo International Motor Show progresses in Brazil, we are getting more chances of witnessing new cars that could make it to India in future. Reason being, both the markets share similar market sentiments when it comes to certain cars, such as crossovers. First, it was Honda, which unveiled the WR-V, and now it’s Hyundai that has taken the wraps off the 2017 Creta (or the Creta Facelift, if it makes it to India). Notably, the Creta makes its debut in the Brazilian market for the first time.

The 2017 Creta wears Hyundai’s all-new cascade grille, which can be noticed on several other vehicles such as the Tucson and the Elantra. The said chrome grille is now wider and more prominent than the one seen on the existing Creta. It encapsulates three blacked-out chunky horizontal slats and is guarded by DRL-laden projector headlamps (unlike the Indian version, which gets light guides). The bumper too receives significant changes and that has made the design more mature. One can also notice horizontally placed fog lamps, as opposed to the current one’s vertical disposition.

The sides, as a usual facelift follow up, remain unchanged except for new diamond cut alloy wheels. Whereas, the rear end features subtle change in the tail lamps, along with a new bumper setup with sleeker and lowered reflectors.

On the inside, the 2017 Creta gets a new infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other than that, there’s no extra update, however, the difference you see in the interior images as compared to the Indian-spec car is because of the black-beige cabin constraint that we have here.

Powering the Brazilian Creta is a 166PS 2.0-litre D-CVVT engine and a sedate 128PS 1.6-litre D-CVVT, both of which will be available with the options of manual and automatic transmissions. When launched in India, it is expected to carry the same set of engine options, which is not bad either.
