Renault India has retrofitted its cars with CNG kits, including the Kiger SUV. Now that its sibling, the Nissan Magnite, shares the same platform, engine options, and transmissions, it is highly expected that the Nissan sub-4m SUV will also be launched with a retrofitted CNG kit, offered alongside the naturally aspirated petrol manual configuration. Beyond this update, no further changes in design or features are anticipated. Let’s take a roll-down.
The Nissan Magnite, in general, is offered with a naturally aspirated petrol and a turbo petrol engine option.

Just like the Renault Kiger, the Nissan Magnite is also expected to receive a CNG kit with the NA petrol engine, likely delivering slightly reduced power and torque, as is common with CNG-powered cars.
With the CNG update, the only expected change will be the addition of the CNG kit, while the design, features, and interior of the Nissan Magnite will remain the same. To elaborate, the SUV last received a facelift with modest updates to its exterior and interior.

On the outside, it features an all-LED lighting setup and a gloss-black grille. It also comes with front and rear skid plates, 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and silver roof rails. The Magnite is available in a combination of seven exterior and two interior colour options.

Inside, it sports a new cabin theme with dual-tone black and orange leatherette upholstery. In terms of features, it offers an 8-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, multi-colour ambient lighting, an air purifier, a 6-speaker Arkamys-tuned sound system, keyless entry with push-button start-stop, and cruise control.
Its safety suite includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), a 360-degree camera with rear parking sensors, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). All of these features are expected to carry over to the CNG variants as well.
The Nissan Magnite is currently priced between Rs 6.14 lakh and Rs 11.76 lakh (ex-showroom). The CNG fitment might seek a few thousand extra over the standard prices. The Magnite compete with the Tata Nexon, Maruti Fronx, Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet, Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV 3XO. Among these, the Maruti Brezza, Maruti Fronx, and Tata Nexon also offer factory-fitted CNG variants.

The Nissan Magnite receiving a factory-fitted CNG kit might stand out as a logical move, considering its focus on fuel efficiency and affordability for buyers. With rising fuel prices, a CNG option makes the Magnite more accessible to budget-conscious buyers seeking lower running costs without compromising on their SUV choice, especially when rivalling something like the segment veteran Maruti Brezza in the market. Performance enthusiasts might think otherwise.
