Carlos Checa's exceptional double win at the ninth round of the 2011 World Superbike series held at Silverstone circuit added another feather to Ducati’s long list of achievements in World Superbike Championship as the Italian marque celebrated its incredible 300th victory in the championship since its inception in 1988 and the moved onto a total of 301 victories with Checa’s second race win. The double victory also helped the Spaniard maintain his championship lead in the Riders' standings as well as once again keeping Ducati ahead in the race for Manufacturers' title.
The saga of Ducati domination in World Superbikes began with the first victory coming at the very first round of the series held at Donington Park race-track in England in 1988, where Marco Lucchinelli guided his Ducati race-machine to the chequered flag in first place. Since then 25 riders have entered the motorcycle racing history books with several wins piloting the made in Bolognia machines. Top names in the sport like Carl Fogarty, Doug Polen, Raymond Roche, Troy Corser, Giancarlo Falappa, Neil Hodgson, Piefrancesco Chili, Ben Bostrom, James Toseland, Noriyuki Haga and many others up until the legendary Troy Bayliss and latest World Championship leader, Carlos Checa have been notching victories in the championship for Ducati over the years. Adding to the 301 race victories so far, Ducati also has to its credit, 155 pole positions, 753 podiums, 13 Rider's and 16 Manufacturers' World Championship titles.
