The new Bajaj Pulsar 220 F BS6 has started reaching select dealerships ahead of its official launch. It will now cost Rs 1,16,262 (ex-showroom, Pune). That’s Rs 8,960 more expensive than the BS4 Pulsar 220. Recently, the Pulsar NS200 BS6 and Pulsar 150 were spotted at Bajaj dealerships as well.
Surprisingly, the new Pulsar 220 BS6 does not get any graphic updates. It was the same case with the Pulsar NS200 BS6. The updated Pulsar 220 has a cleaner motor. To make the Pulsar 220 BS6 compliant Bajaj has equipped it with fuel injection, an ECU and a catalytic convertor. This is not the first time that the Pulsar 220 gets fuel injection. The first generation Pulsar 220 was launched with fuel injection before Bajaj made the switch to a carburettor the second generation onwards. While the BS6 motor’s performance details have not been disclosed, we expect it to be in the same ballpark as the carburetted BS4 Pulsar 220’s output of 20.93PS and 18.55Nm.
The underpinnings remain unchanged. It continues to use a telescopic fork and dual gas charged shock absorbers. Braking is via disc brakes at both ends with single-channel ABS as standard fitment.
The updated Pulsar 220 BS6 competes with the BS4 Hero Xtreme 200S (Rs 1,02,400) and BS4 Yamaha Fazer 25 (Rs 1,43, 680)(both prices ex-showroom Pune). Both motorcycles are expected to be updated to BS6 norms soon).
