Quick Read:
Gets ride-by-wire and cruise control - both first in the segment
Features a new Combat Edition colour scheme with neon graphics
Continues with the same 163.2cc, 4-valve engine making 16.9PS and 14.6Nm
Hero MotoCorp has unveiled the Xtreme 160R 4V Combat Edition in India. This new version of the sporty streetfighter gets features which we have never seen in the segment before. Let’s have a look at what’s new with the Combat Edition of the Xtreme 160R 4V:
The Hero Xtreme 160R 4V Combat Edition now gets a new LED headlight setup, giving it a sharper and more aggressive front end that resembles the Xtreme 250R. It also debuts a new light grey colour option with neon graphics, which is in line with Hero’s Combat Edition lineup. Apart from this, the design is the same as the base variant.

The highlight of this variant is its addition of ride-by-wire and cruise control, making the Xtreme 160R 4V the first 160cc bike in India to offer these features. It also gets a colour LCD console, which is from the Hero Glamour X 125. These should not only enhance convenience during longer rides but also make throttle response smoother and more precise. That said, we still feel cruise control on a small capacity bike is not very useful, especially on our highways.
Hero has also introduced three ride modes: Rain, Road, and Sport, which can be switched through the new switchgear on the handlebars. While the exact adjustments these modes bring to throttle or ABS behaviour are yet to be confirmed, they should certainly add a layer of sophistication to the riding experience.

Underneath the fresh design and added tech, the motorcycle continues to use the same 163.2cc, air and oil-cooled, 4-valve engine producing 16.9PS and 14.6Nm, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Hero claims the Xtreme is capable of doing the 0-60kmph sprint in 4.5 seconds. The bike retains its hardware setup with a KYB USD fork, a monoshock, and disc brakes at both ends paired with dual-channel ABS.
The Hero Xtreme 160R 4V Combat Edition, given its new features and premium updates, should sit slightly above the standard variant in Hero’s lineup, which is priced at Rs 1,29,615 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It could cost around Rs 5,000 more than the standard variant.
With this, Hero aims to challenge its key rivals in the 160cc space, including the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Yamaha FZ-X, and Bajaj Pulsar N160, offering an impressive mix of tech, performance, and style.

With the new Combat Edition, Hero has taken a step forward in the 160cc segment. Ride-by-wire and cruise control are features unheard of at this price point, giving the Xtreme 160R 4V an edge over its rivals, especially now that most of its rivals are pretty feature-packed in some way or another.
