Quick Read:
Xtreme 160R 4V Combat Edition finally goes on sale at Rs 1,34,100 (ex-showroom, Delhi)
Segment-first ride-by-wire and cruise control on a 160cc bike in India
Gets the same headlight as the Xtreme 250R
After making an early appearance on Hero’s official website without any formal announcement, the Xtreme 160R 4V Combat Edition has now been officially launched in India. The new top variant (called the Xtreme 160R 4V Cruise Control in the official website’s price section), is priced at Rs 1,34,100 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Visually, the Hero Xtreme 160R 4V Combat Edition stands apart with its updated LED headlight design that gives the bike a more aggressive face, similar to the Hero Xtreme 250R. The new Combat Edition paint scheme in light grey with neon accents adds to the sporty appeal, while the rest of the styling remains familiar and sharp. The new top variant, apart from the Mat Shadow Grey, is also available in 3 other colour schemes: Kevlar Brown, Matt Slate Black and Neo Shooting Star.

What truly defines the new Xtreme 160R 4V Cruise Control variant is its feature set. Hero has equipped it with ride-by-wire and cruise control, a combination never seen before on a motorcycle in this category in the country. All said and done, we still think cruise control might feel a bit over-the-top for a 160cc machine. The bike also offers three ride modes: Rain, Road and Sport, which are expected to adjust the riding character.
Adding to the feature list is a colour LCD instrument console sourced from the Hero Glamour X 125, along with refreshed switchgear.

Under the bodywork, nothing has changed mechanically. Here are the highlights:
163.2cc air-and-oil-cooled 4-valve engine, 16.9PS and 14.6Nm
5-speed gearbox (no slipper clutch here)
0-60kmph in a claimed 4.5 seconds
KYB USD Fork and monoshock
Front and rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS

The new top variant of the Xtreme 160R 4V is only Rs 4,485 more than its base variant (which is priced at Rs 1,29,615 ex-showroom, Delhi). Even though its performance figures stay the same, the addition of more features makes the new top-end variant a great value-for-money proposition and should be your default choice while considering the Hero Xtreme 160R 4V. Its closest rivals include the top-end variant of the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Bajaj Pulsar NS160 and Yamaha FZS-FI. While its rivals have their own set of unique features, the new Xtreme 160R variant, with all its goodies, should stack up against the competition a bit better.
