The Honda Africa Twin registered a staggering 1900 percent year-on-year growth

The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has released the sales data of April 2022. Here’s a look at the top five big bikes sold in the month:

Model Units Sold
Kawasaki Versys 650 47
Kawasaki Z900 38
Honda CBR650R 33
Triumph Tiger Sport 660 27
Honda Africa Twin 20

The Kawasaki Versys 650 has managed to bag the top spot this month. Not only has the mid-displacement ADV registered an impressive 262 percent year-on-year growth, Kawasaki sold four times the units it sold in March 2022. This sudden spike in sales can be accredited to the massive discounts that the bikemaker has been offering specially for the ADV. Team Green could be doing this to clear its stock before introducing the 2022 Kawasaki Versys 650.

Following the Versys closely is its middleweight naked sibling, the Kawasaki Z900, which has witnessed a 49 percent drop in sales compared to April 2021. One of the reasons for the dip could be the price hikes, which has now made the Z900 pricier than the Honda CB650R.

Surprisingly, the Honda CBR650R, despite its hefty pricing, is on third spot in April 2022. The faired motorcycle has been consistently raking in decent sales figures, registering a 22 percent YoY and MoM growth.

The Honda Africa Twin managed to bag the fifth spot, registering a staggering 1900 percent growth in sales. In fact, after the launch of the 2022 model, the burly ADV has seen a big improvement in sales, although there’re no substantial changes to the bike.

If you too are planning to splurge on a new motorcycle, here’s a look at the launches expected in June 2022.
