With the Kushaq facelift now taking its wraps off, and the Kodiaq RS being confirmed for India, Skoda has also announced some very interesting plans for the brand in India. Let’s take a look at what we know so far:
CNG is a technology that Skoda has been exploring for a while, with a test mule of the Rapid CNG being spied as far back as 2020. After a lot of dilly-dallying, the carmaker has now finally confirmed that a Kylaq CNG is in the works, given that the fuel option holds a significant 20% market share in the subcompact SUV segment.

Skoda is also exploring the possibility of a factory-fit solution, although a dealer-fitted kit hasn’t been ruled out either.
Next up, Skoda’s popular sedan, the Slavia, is all set to get a comprehensive refresh, just like the facelifted Kushaq that we saw being unveiled yesterday. Notably, the sedan is one of the more important models in Skoda’s portfolio, with it having over 25% of the share in the midsize sedan segment.

In order to keep the Slavia fresh, the carmaker is expected to give its styling a makeover, along with a new 8-speed AT and some new features to help it retain one of the top spots in its segment.
Interested buyers would also be glad to note that Skoda is in the process of ramping up the Slavia’s production to cater to the stronger demand even better.
Coming to the talk of the town, the Octavia RS performance sedan, which has opened to a blockbuster success, selling out all 100 units in the first batch, even before its launch!
While a lot of fans of the sports sedan might have been disappointed back then, Skoda has now confirmed that a second batch of the Octavia RS is on its way to our shores, with deliveries expected to begin in the third quarter of this year. Further details, including the booking date, will be shared closer to the delivery date.

We know for quite a while now that Skoda has been toying with the idea of introducing EVs, especially the Enyaq, in India.
However, Skoda has now confirmed that it has no immediate plans of foraying into the all-electric segment in the near future, largely owing to the frequent policy changes and unpredictable regulatory environment.

That said, the brand has emphasised that EVs aren’t off the table and it is keenly looking into establishing a long-term mass-market EV strategy, but till then, an electric Skoda is unlikely to be on sale in India.
Skoda fans, good news! The brand is once again actively looking into re-introducing diesel-powered products in India, after it axed its entire oil-burning lineup in 2020 owing to the stricter BS6 emission norms coming into effect.
Since then, Skoda has taken feedback and is looking into bringing back this popular fuel option in India, possibly in 2027. Further details have not been revealed, although we feel the diesel engine could debut with the new Superb, which was also showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025.
At the event, Skoda also showcased the Kodiaq RS, which is the performance-oriented version of the Kodiaq SUV. With a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine putting out 265 PS and 400 Nm, it will be one of the most powerful SUVs below the one crore price bracket.

With the Kodiaq RS coming to our shores as soon as the second quarter of this year, it will become the new flagship for Skoda in India. The brand also confirmed that it intends to keep the Kodiaq RS at the top of its product range for a while, with no plans to explore the luxury segment.
Skoda’s commitment to India remains deep, and with the MQB-A0-IN cars performing well in the market, the carmaker is taking a cautious approach ahead by building on its strength and choosing to enrich its lineup with brand-building products instead of chasing after volumes. And now with these exciting announcements, we are sure the next few years will be very busy at the Skoda India headquarters!
