Ah, the Goodwood Festival Of Speed - a yearly celebration of mankind’s greatest invention, the automobile. The concept of time has no jurisdiction here as one can witness everything from vintage cars and bikes to high-speed prototypes and futuristic concepts. Motorcycles also have a special place in the hallowed grounds of Goodwood House, and Royal Enfield, a brand that has deep-rooted connection to the UK has an eclectic list of custom motorcycles showcased here. This year, Royal Enfield’s double-barrelled beaut, the Shotgun 650 has metamorphosed in four different artistic forms.
Each of the four motorcycles has been made under Royal Enfield’s ‘Custom World’ initiative, and shows different versions and possibilities of what the Shotgun 650 can be. Three of them have even been ridden up the iconic Goodwood hill by their respective creators.

What’s brand-new this year is the Sawn Off Shotgun by Ireland-based Medaza Cycles. It’s a sleek, stripped-down build that combines sporty elements of a roadster and the custom looks of a chopper. It features a polished silver tank, a minimalist rider’s seat, and high-set, side-slung twin exhaust pipes, giving it a clean yet aggressive aesthetic. It’s also the only bike of the bunch making its official debut at Goodwood.

Joining the Sawn Off Shotgun on the hill climb are three more head-turners. First is the Samurai by Japan-based Sure Shot custom house: a low-slung sporty bobber with downward-sweeping handlebars and a solo seat setup. It’s also got beautifully crafted custom wheels, aluminium swingarm, and fat retro-styled tyres, among other goodies. A samurai cutting corners just got a whole new meaning, in a good way!

Then there’s Always Something from USA’s Icon Motorsport, a personal favourite for its performance-oriented cafe racer style. Dressed in some very eye-catching and unique colours, it sports RE’s iconic “R” on the tank, and white stars over a deep blue belly pan. It’s hard to believe this 80s-themed cafe racer started its life as a Shotgun 650. The frame seems to have been heavily modified with a custom swingarm, shortened subframe, high-end suspension with gas-charged inverted fork and twin gas-charged shock absorbers. The aggressive clip-ons, sporty cafe-racer fairing, meaty Goodyear tyres, and massive solid discs complete the race-themed look.

Rounding out the pack is The Kingsman by Kingston Custom, a German custom bikemaker, a machine that looks like it has actually time-travelled from the past. Its design language feels right at home at Goodwood with other vintage motorcycles and has a silhouette that will remind you of classic land-speed bikes. Watch this retro custom in action here:
While there’s only been one new bike at Goodwood this year, the other four still manage to grab attention with their beautifully crafted designs that just go to prove that the Shotgun lives up to its purpose of being a wonderful canvas for art on two wheels, just like almost every other Royal Enfield manages to be.
