Ms. Motwani also revealed some interesting details regarding the customisation options to be made available for the electric moped

Recently, we had an interview with Ms. Sulajja Firodia Motwani, Founder and CEO of Kinetic Green, about the upcoming Kinetic E-Luna and we uncovered some information regarding the specifications and features the electric moped will get.

When asked about the top criterias that were taken into consideration for the E-Luna, Ms. Motwani said, “The E-Luna had to incorporate the latest technology. It had to be something versatile and convenient, as a multi-utility vehicle.” She added that, as such, the upcoming E-Luna will have an IP67-rated battery that is thermal proof, weatherproof, dustproof and waterproof. The same goes for the controller, converter and the motor as well. “So it's a completely modular product. That means the battery, for example, the battery box is under the seat. And on the same battery box, we can incorporate a 1.5kWh LFP battery, 2kWh NMC battery and a 3kWh NMC battery.” When asked if the batteries are swappable, she said “The battery is designed to be swappable. So it's a fixed, detachable, swappable battery with multiple battery options.”Ms. Motwani also added that Kinetic Green will be working with a couple of partners for the battery swapping operation.

Continuing on the E-Luna needing to have the latest technology, she said “It has a digital cluster, not the typical analog cluster, which you see on the ICE vehicles. It comes with its own app called KG Connect. So the customer also has a complete software platform with it to track the performance of this vehicle, you know, and the distance to empty readout is also on the cluster as well as on the app, etc.”

When asked about the range output of the E-Luna in the real world, she said ” So, the 2kWh battery, let's say, the one that we are first launching, the certified range of E-Luna with 2kWh battery is 110 kilometers per charge. And we have three driving modes: Eco, City Speed and Sport. So, depending on the mode and the load conditions, I think the riders can get anywhere between 80km, 85km, 200km and 110 kilometers per charge.”

She also added that the electric moped will have a mid-mounted motor with a peak power output of 2kW and top speed of 50kmph and that they are also working on a motor with 3kW peak power output and 65-70kmph top speed.

Ms. Motwani has confirmed that the ground clearance is 180mm and the e-moped will come with 16-inch spoke wheels. A die-cast wheel variant is in the pipeline. Speaking about the versatility aspect of the electric moped, she said ”We have a version which has two seats, so the back seat can be removed and become a platform.” She also added that a single-seat version will also be available.

Interestingly, Ms. Motwani also mentioned in the interview that Kinetic Green will be making various accessories available for the E-Luna. She said “We will also offer customization options by way of accessories, hooks, you know, fixtures, like it can become a momo stall, it can become a pani puri thela, it can become a coffee vending machine. We are working with Big Basket as a maker suitable for their requirements, their size of crates.” She also added that other visual accessories like stickers and graphics will also be available for those who’d want the electric moped to have a custom appearance. When asked whether the customisation options will be offered in a pre-purchase or post-purchase scenario, she said “You purchase the E-Luna first and then you get it customized however you like it. It will be a combination.”

The Kinetic E-luna will be launched on February 7, 2024 and is expected to be priced around the Rs 80,000 (ex-showroom) mark. It will rival the Okinawa Dual 100. Pre-bookings for the electric moped are now open and customers can directly pre-book the E-Luna from Kinetic Green’s website.
