Quick Highlights:
Ola Electric has planned six new e-scooters, and six e-bikes for its future
Launch will start from July 2025 (Q2 FY6)
Also includes the new S2 and S3 scooter platform
We got our hands on Ola Electric’s future product lineup, which includes the new S2 range of electric scooters, European-styled maxi scooters, street naked motorcycles, a cruiser, an adventure motorcycle, and more. Let’s have a detailed look at Ola’s upcoming products:
The product map shows that the first scooter in the timeline is the ‘S1 Sports’ electric scooter. It will most probably be the fastest, and one with the longest range based on the S1 Gen 3 scooter's platform.
The next scooters in the timeline are the ‘S2 City’ and ‘S2 Sports’ electric scooters. They will most probably be based on the next generation S2 platform. The S2 City will be the scooter with a more family-oriented design with lots of storage options and a decent range. On the other hand, the S2 Sports will have a much more aggressive design language, with emphasis on performance. The S2 lineup will also spawn a touring oriented version, called the ‘S2 Tourer’, probably with the highest range, and will be suited for touring.
After the S2 generation, Ola Electric revealed its plan for the S3 range of scooters as well. It consists of two scooters: the S3 Grand Adventure and the S3 Grand Tourer. By the looks of it, the S3 Grand Adventure will likely be more of an ADV-styled maxiscooter, just like the Honda X-ADV. The S3 Grand Tourer will be the road-biased sibling and have street-oriented tyres and will be made to go the distance.
While all the electric motorcycles shown in the presentation are already unveiled, it’s likely that Ola Electric will start with the deliveries of the Roadster X and the Roadster X+ series, as they had already been delayed.
The Ola Roadster will be the higher variant when compared to the current Roadster X and Roadster X Plus. The Sportster will likely be a sportier take on the Roadster.
The range-topping Roadster Pro was launched last year, but Ola Electric has not provided a delivery timeline for the e-bike. The Roadster Pro will be sold in two variants: 8kWh and 16kWh. The top-end 16kWh variant has a claimed top-speed of 194kmph and a claimed range of 579km. With a host of features, the Roadster Pro looks very promising, at least on paper. But we will see how it turns out once the deliveries begin.
The other four motorcycles are the Arrowhead, Cruiser, Adventure and the Diamondhead. While the Cruiser and Adventure are pretty self-explanatory, the Diamond head stands out from the rest, and will possibly be the flagship offering. The concept was showcased a while back and has a very futuristic design which reminds us of the Tron: Legacy movie.
Ola Electric seems to have a properly solid lineup of e-scooters under the S2 platform to deal with the growing competition from Legacy manufacturers.
That said, the S3 platform, in particular, may only be for niche audiences. This is because the Indian market considers scooters primarily as utilitarian and not lifestyle products like European markets.
The electric motorcycle is a completely different ballgame, though. 'Launching' multiple e-bikes is easy (Ola announced the e-bikes back in 2023 itself) but the real picture is painted only once the actual deliveries begin. The Roadster X' deliveries are already delayed, so expect it to hit the roads later this month. The future of the rest of the e-bike portfolio will have a lot of factors to depend on: customer response, cost of manufacturing high energy density battery packs in manageable weights, as well as the sheer scale of manufacturing. So only time will tell how and when the future range of Ola Electric turns out to be.
