MG has revealed the elder sibling of the Gloster in India, going by the name Majestor. The SUV was first showcased in 2025 at the Bharat Mobility Expo and had been awaited by fans ever since. Its arrival is expected to only make things more difficult for its younger brother, which has already seen hard times in finding the amount of sales it deserves ever since its launch in 2020.
But MG has made the Majestor Majestic with its looks and features on board, along with outstanding off-road capabilities, proving it to be a valuable addition to the segment. But how different is the new Majestor when compared to the Gloster, and should you be upgrading to a Majestor from the Gloster? The sibling rivalry has heated up; let's find the ultimate winner!
The MG Majestor has a very rugged and dominating approach towards the exterior design, featuring a large gloss-black grille, a split headlight design with slim LED DRLs and headlights integrated into the bumper. What also adds more character to the front is the silver skid plate. The rear also has an equally dominating stance with a touch of futuristic additions like the redesigned flat tailgate, which houses the connected LED taillights, and massive ‘MAJESTOR’ badging. The rear bumper has chunky body claddings and a sporty diffuser and twin exhaust pipes that add to the looks.

The MG Gloster, on the other hand, has a more sophisticated and elegant front fascia with a bold grille, LED headlights and a sleek bumper design with a small skid plate upfront. At the rear as well, the design is considerably simpler with fewer sharp elements. It gets LED taillights, and the tailgate gets massive ‘GLOSTER’ badging. The rear bumper does get similar sporty elements as the Majestor, like twin exhaust pipes and a diffuser.

Both cars look identical from the side with a bulky silhouette, roof rails, body claddings, and both ride on 19-inch alloy wheels. Although the Majestor is slightly bigger and drops the use of chrome for gloss-black trims.
Here is a detailed comparison of their size:

The Majestor sits above the Gloster, and from the table, it is evident that the Majestor is bigger than the Gloster in all aspects of dimensions, but they offer the same wheelbase.

A larger footprint also translates to more space inside, which is relatively impressive.

Majestor Wins!
Starting with the interior of the MG Majestor first, the dashboard is finished in an all-black theme with the centre stage taken by the touchscreen infotainment screen, below which are the rectangular AC vents. The three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel has been taken from the Gloster. The dashboard looks very premium and uses soft-touch materials as well. The AC controls are controlled via toggle-styled switches, with very few touch-based buttons. Further below is a wireless charging pad and knobs for selecting the drive modes and operating the four-wheel drive functions.
Coming to the MG Gloster’s interior, the dashboard can be seen finished in a premium dual-tone colour theme of black and tan. The use of soft-touch materials can be seen here as well. The touchscreen infotainment screen has a floating design, and the AC vents are slimmer. You get dial-style controls to operate the AC, and the knob for selecting the terrain and drive modes has been placed on the centre console.

The second row of seats in both cars can be configured with either individual captain seats or as a bench. The third row is generously spacious as well, but is best for short adults or children. Each row also comes with its own dedicated AC vents.
Both the Majestor and Gloster offer the same set of features, with a few differences. For starters, the Majestor gets a 12.3-inch digital driver's display, 10 off-road modes, a steering column-mounted gear shifter and ventilation and massaging front seats. Whereas the Gloster gets a smaller 8-inch digital driver's display, 7-terrain modes, and a conventional gear selector on the centre console.
Features that are common in the Majestor and Gloster include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, a 12-speaker sound system, 12-way powered driver and 8-way powered co-driver seats with heating, triple zone climate control, 64-colour ambient lighting, a powered tailgate, terrain modes, heated ORVMs, automatic parking assist, and connected car tech.

In terms of safety, both SUVs are offered with a Level-2 ADAS suite.. Other safety equipment offered on both cars is 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera with front and rear parking sensors, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, ABS with EBD, hill hold assist, traction control, electronic stability control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
The MG Majestor is powered by a 2-litre twin-turbo diesel engine, which is also offered in the Gloster. This engine is mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox and can also be had with an optional four-wheel drive system. Differentiating from the Gloster in terms of off-road capability, MG has equipped the Majestor with 10 off-road modes, a triple differential lock and up to 810mm of water wading depth as well.
Here are the Majestor’s detailed engine specifications:

MG has not yet disclosed the prices of the new Majestor, but what we do know is that it is a more premium offering and sits above the Gloster, which means it is expected to be costlier than its sibling. For reference, the price range of the Gloster starts at Rs. 38.33 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Gloster is the more affordable option of the two, which makes it value for money, but if you’re looking at the higher variants of the Gloster, the Majestor does have quite extra to offer, and you should definitely consider it once. Both cars are attractive options, but more can be said only when MG releases official pricing for the Majestor in April.
Both the Majestor and Gloster are very strong and appealing products; they pack in a lot of tech and modern features, are spacious, powerful and capable, and look equally good as well. But if you’re confused about which to buy, you should ask yourself a few questions to get the answer. If you’re looking for something that speaks a bold, dominating personality, has all modern tech and features, is spacious, powerful, and capable, the Majestor should be your pick. But this will come at a premium tag; MG hasn’t released the prices, but it will be positioned above the Gloster.
On the other hand, if you want all of this equipment at a considerably lower price, and can settle for fewer off-road tricks and capability, and you find the looks of Gloster pleasing enough, it is not a bad choice either. You really don’t miss out on much. Picking it is a smart choice.
