It looks like MG is preparing a facelift for the Gloster as images of the updated SUV being tested have surfaced online for the first time. The Gloster is MG’s full-size SUV, which was launched on our shores in October 2020. While MG did introduce tweaks and new editions along the way, this will be the first major update for the full-size SUV, expected to launch later in 2024.

Most of the design changes made to the Gloster facelift are focussed on the front. It gets an even larger gaping grille, flanked by a pair of vertically stacked LED headlights. As is the norm with most new cars these days, you can also expect a pair of connected LED DRLs. Topping up the cake is a tweaked front bumper.

While this test mule is seen rolling on the existing model’s alloys, you can expect a new design to keep things fresh. And at the rear, one can expect revised LED tail lamps and a revised bumper with dual exhaust outlets.

The Gloster facelift’s interior is yet to be snapped. However, one can expect minor alterations made to the design and colour scheme to give it a breath of fresh air. And in terms of features, most of the kit should be carried forward such as 12.3-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, 12-way powered front seat with massage and ventilation, and three-zone climate control.
The Gloster currently comes packing six airbags, a 360-degree camera, ABS with EBD, hill-hold assist, ISOFIX mounts, and a full suite of ADAS features

No major changes should be made to the powertrain. The Gloster currently gets a choice of a 161PS 2-litre diesel with rear-wheel-drive or a 215PS 2-litre twin-turbo diesel with four-wheel-drive. Both these engine options are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Currently, the MG Gloster is priced from Rs 38.8 lakh (ex-showroom) and the facelift could command a notable premium. It will continue to lock horns with the Toyota Fortuner as well as other seven-seater monocoque SUVs like the Jeep Meridian and Skoda Kodiaq.
