Ciaz is better in terms of fuel efficiency but mind you it is very lethargic and is a strictly average in terms of overall performance. Completely in contrast to usual marutis brilliant 1.2 K series engines. While Verna is very fluid, segment benchmark performance, good fuel efficiency and is a great highway cruiser. You"d certainly enjoy winding this engine to its limit. Verna makes much more sense than Ciaz.
