About Tata Nano

Tata Nano is the most affordable car commercially available in Indian market and can be had in the price range of Rs 2.26-3.20 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The highlight of Tata Nano is its funky design that is surprisingly spacious and astonishingly practical. Unlike all other small cars, Tata Nano is a genuine 4-seater and offers loads of leg room and head room to its occupants. The car is powered by a rear mounted 624 cc petrol engine putting out 38 PS and 51 Nm of maximum torque. The gearbox features 5-speed ratio and the boot capacity is rated at 94-litre. Tata Nano comes with the features like central locking, rear seat belts, child lock etc. but doesn't get the airbag even as an optional feature. There is no direct rival to Tata Nano in terms of pricing although it is compared against the likes of Maruti Alto, Hyundai Eon, and Datsun redi-Go among others.

Q. Is it good for long distance travel - Nano?
  • Recently just 10days before i drove my Nano from Aurangabad (MH) to Rourkela (OD) (via Jalna, Amarvatti, Nagpur, Durg, Bhilai, Raipur, Bilaspur, Raigarh) around 1300km and 36hrs splendid journey. Every thing is fit and fine to drive a nano for long tours. Just ensure that, take 10-15min stoppage after driving 70-80kms to avoid over heating of engine. My avg speed was 60-70 and for one time i have tested the speed @ 110km/hr, but i will not recommend anyone to over speed the car for Safety reasons.
  • A bunch of 3 youngsters drove an unmodified Nano from London to Mongolia with absolutely no issues a few years ago. I own a XTA and have driven it extensively over the last 3 years. I have owned a host of cars of all sizes in the 25 years that I have been driving. I have self-driven in many countries overseas. I currently own 3 vehicles. I have seen Nano Taxis in Sri Lanka with over 2.8 Lakh kms on the Odometer running without any issue and maintained like new!I can with all sincerity say that it is a brilliant car for the money.
  • Why Not? I have Nano LX from Last 2011. It is about Nine and Half Years till date. I travelled with my Sweet Pleasanr Tiny Nano LX in a day 800 kms. And there is No problem in any manners. In its category i.e. Small Cars like Alto, Kwid, Eon there is much space, Very Good Mileage in Nano. You Can Travel anywhere any distance....

  • I have been using the tata

I have been using the tata nano for 6 years now and i am really happy driving it.Its a no nonsense car to say the least. It a super frugal and a great commuter.Especially for the roads of goa where some reads can get real narrow, It a super easy car to drive and park at tight spots. The turning radius is to die for and three point turns are a breeze. There is a certain lag in gear shifts in the auto and it will take a little time for your right foot to get used to it but once there its like a part of you.I have driven from mumbai to ooty to shimla and narkanda in the winters and there has been no issues.Cold starts are a breeze.Servicing is super cheap and efficient.I changed tyres after 5 years and its running fine till now.The best part of this nano is that there is a sports mode too, Which changes the throttle response and gearing for the tough inclines.I generally get about 22 to 25 kms per litre of petrol which is fantastic.A sane driver will get a very similar average. It will differ for the kimis of the world.Overall a lovely vehicle to drive and own.Happy and safe travels.

    Engine displacement

I m using the tata nano from last 6 years and i m still looking forward to drive it more It delivers a nic 17-18kmpl in city drive and 24-26kmpl in highway when i drive.I have till now changed only some minors things such as tyres ac condenser and front strut shock absorbers onceI wish it had a diesel engine at the same engine displacement like 600-700 it would given a mileage of 30-35 kmpl in highway

    Cylinder engine

I own Tata Nano Twist, 2014 Model. This car is less driven around 10700 kms till now. I had a other car so not much used. Yearly service was maintained as per the schedule. Car is good to drive in cities and i didn"t feel that bad as people comment on this car. Its a two cylinder engine, little noisier than other cars but its manageable. At this price point the car has some good features and it has excellent space compared to my other car(felt not to mentioned as i can purchase 2 Nano;s from its price). Nowadays it become my daily drive and i am really enjoying it. Cheap to maintain and its strong than it looks. little more feature like front disk breaks would be suggestible if they are again introducing it.

The Nano seems to transcend across borders with its small price tag and small dimensions. And it still continues to make us happy.
