Ola S1 Latest Updates

Ola Electric has introduced offline showrooms, called ‘Ola Experience Centres’ in multiple cities in the country. Check out the details here.

Ola S1 electric scooter was launched at Rs 99,999. Check out the launch story here. Ola recently developed India’s first locally manufactured lithium-ion cell for its EVs, which could result tremendously in Ola’s product pricing and performance. The EV maker has also signed the PLI scheme agreement and plans to mass produce cells locally by 2023. Apart from that, Ola Move OS 3.0 software update to be launched by Diwali 2022. Here’s what the upcoming update will pack.

The company is also planning to introduce extreme fast charging technology (XFC) that’s capable of charging from 0-100 percent in just five minutes! Intrigued? Read on.

Ola S1 Engine

The Ola Electric S1 is powered by a IPM motor rated for a peak power of 8.5kW and a continuous power of 5.5kW. The motor is paired to a 2.98kWh (S1) and 3.97kWh (S1 Pro) battery packs capable of a claimed range of 121km and 181km respectively. The S1 can achieve a top speed of 90kmph while the S1 Pro has a top speed of 115kmph. The Ola S1 Electric S1 takes 4 hrs and 48 minutes to charge fully while the S1 pro can be charged in 6 hours and 30 minutes using the 750W portable charger. With the fast charger, an 18 minute charge can give the e-scooter a range of 75km. The Ola Electric S1 uses a tubular frame and is equipped with a single fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. For braking, the e-scooter has been equipped with a 280mm disc at the front and 220mm disc at the rear, aided by a combined braking system.

Ola S1 Range

S1 can go upto 181 km/charge after a full charge.

Ola S1 Charging Time

S1 battery takes 6 hours 30 minutes to get charged.

Ola S1 Variants

The Ola Electric S1 has been launched in two variants: Standard and S1 Pro. Ola Electric has equipped the standard model with a 2.98kWh battery and the motor has been restricted to 90kmph. Meanwhile, the S1 Pro, in addition to a bigger battery and a claimed top speed of 115kmph, also gets additional features like voice assist, hill hold control, and additional riding modes. The Ola Electric S1 has been priced at Rs 99,999 while the S1 Pro is priced at Rs 1,29,999 (both ex-showroom Bengaluru, including FAME-II subsidy).

Ola S1 Design

The Ola Electric S1 is based on the Dutch startup Etergo’s AppScooter. It has a very European design with smooth, flowing lines rather than an aggressive design. The Ola Electric S1 comes with quite a few unique elements like the single telescopic fork, the dual LED headlight with the LED DRL surround. Even the indicators are neatly integrated into the bodywork. Thanks to its cleverly designed battery pack, the Ola Electric scooter boasts a 36-litre storage space, which is the largest in our market.

Ola S1 Features

The Ola Electric scooter is loaded with features. Both the variants are equipped with an all-LED lighting system, a massive 36-litre underseat storage, TFT instrument cluster with smartphone, Bluetooth, wi-fi and GPS connectivity. You can even customise your homescreen to meet your mood with custom widgets and LITE versions of your favorite applications. Other noteworthy standard features include side stand down and anti-theft alert, geo-fencing, reverse mode, Get Home Mode, Take Me Home Lights, and a Limp Home Mode. The S1 Pro variant additionally comes with a hill-hold function, voice assistant, and cruise control. OLA will soon launch its ‘Companion’ app enabling smoother integration of features via your smartphone.

Ola S1 Competitors

The Ola Electric S1 competes with the likes of the Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube Electric and the Ather 450X.

What is good and bad in S1?

  • S1 Positives

Light on its feet; Ride quality is pliant; Has an enormous boot

  • S1 Negatives

Throttle calibration is imperfect; Switchgear lacks tactile feel; Inconsistent quality issues

  • Expert's Conclusion

In our experience, the Ola S1 Pro has proved to be a promising scooter that could combine practicality and performance. But, there is a “but.” Sure, while quality could be better, it isn’t a deal-breaker. The unexplained drop in performance dampened the riding experience and the more subtle issue of poor throttle calibration hampers the promise of practicality and is a potential safety concern.

    Seat storage

Features of this ev are very convenient and easy to access.Adding the feature of call is a bit risky but if driving responsibly then picking up or canceling a call becomes very easy. It's like a few features have made this ev look like a car.Best designed ev so far.

  • 5.0
Just bought the S1 . Got

Just bought the s1.Got the delivery in 17 days flat from payment. After riding the scooter one must say it’s very comfortable to ride and very easy to operate. The design is premium quality and so does the scooter look excellent. If ola s1 gets the move os3.0 update as promised by diwali there is no other scooter to match. One would prefer having the experience centres near by because it’s a little difficult to get through to the customer care. But all in all go for it!!!.

  • Special lanes

The first thing that comes to mind is the time savings of moving around a big city on a scooter.Saying goodbye to rush hour traffic jams is one of the reasons that leads many users to leave the car behind and choose a scooter. They are agile and have access to some restricted access areas and special lanes.Being able to leave home with the exact time to go to work without having to worry about how many minutes you are going to be stuck on the road is a luxury that many have already experienced.Another way to save time and increase our comfort with the scooter is the ease of parking it offers.Big cities are prepared for all those who move around on two wheels, And many of them allow motorcycles or scooters to be left parked on the sidewalks (always in an orderly way). This allows us to forget about all the time we waste looking for parking as close as possible to our destination when we go by car.

  • Customer service

Customer service is very poor if we have any query regarding scooter if we call they will take half an hour waiting to take a call. After purchasing from app process of documentation also very bad.Don't know if any problem occur on scooter they will not take care.Want their offline contact number.Because every person not have time to wait half an hour on call.1 star.

  • I have booked ola S1 scooter.

I have booked ola s1 scooter. While doing payment app was working properly and after payment it started showing technical error. It happened with my friends also, They are taking money from people and delaying in refund. They have scooter booking option not cancellation option.Customer care don't reply properly. Now my money got stucked and i don't know what to do.Don't book online vehicle. They will cheat you as ola is doing.
