Certification covers all seven models, boosting eligibility for incentives till 2028
Ola says its profitability is expected to improve from now
Ola Electric has received certification for its Gen 3 scooter portfolio under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for the automobile and auto components sector. The approval was granted by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), under the Ministry of Heavy Industries.

The certification applies to all models and variants in the Gen 3 Ola Electric scooters: S1 Pro+, S1 Pro, S1 X+, and S1 X. With this, both the company’s Gen 2 and Gen 3 scooter portfolios now stand PLI-certified.
What remains to be seen is whether Ola Electric will pass on the benefits, incentives and cost savings onto the end consumer. That said, Ola is well-known for offering schemes including price discounts on festive days.

In fact, Ola is currently offering a 5-year free extended warranty, Rs 5,000 cash discount and also Rs 5,000 EMI benefits on certain credit cards on all its models. On top of this, the MoveOS subscription is being offered at 50% off right now for the S1 Pro and Pro+.
According to Ola Electric, the certification makes the company eligible for incentives ranging between 13% and 18% of the determined sales value until 2028. The company expects this to meaningfully strengthen its margins and improve profitability now (second quarter of FY26, which is July - September 2025).

Of late, Ola has been grappling with several challenges - all of which directly or indirectly affected its profitability. Now with the incentives, especially for the best-selling Gen 3 platform, the company gets closer to improving its profitability.

The certification comes at a time when Ola Electric is expanding its product portfolio and technology base. At its recent ‘Sankalp 2025’ event, the company launched new models based on its upcoming Gen 4 platform, which will use a new 16kW motor and the locally produced 4680 Bharat cell.

The batteries are designed to be lighter, more efficient, and cost-effective - with applications planned across both electric scooters and motorcycles. Alongside this, Ola unveiled the S1 Pro Sport with deliveries scheduled to begin in January 2026.
