Japanese car manufacturer Mitsubishi has revealed digital images of its crossover concept, the GT PHEV. The car is the same concept that the manufacturer teased a few weeks ago. Its public exhibition is slated to take place at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, which starts from October 1. However, the exterior pictures give us a good idea of the concept.
The concept exhibits futuristic exterior design which is composed of sharp character lines, and flaunts flashy crystal-studded headlamps, fog lamps and taillights – something that concept cars usually have. The front gets the dynamic shield that we have seen in some of the latest generation Mitsubishi vehicles, such as the 2016 Pajero Sport. It also features a floating roof, with the roof painted in burgundy colour, a raked rear window, and massive twin-five-spoke chrome wheels.
As the name suggests, the concept is a hybrid vehicle, and it employs AWD (All-Wheel-Drive) system. The car will make use of three electric motors along with a fossil-fuelled engine. Mitsubishi says that the car will be a grand tourer, designed to go great distances. The manufacturer also states that it will have a pure electric range of around 100km, whereas the combined hybrid range will be around 1000 kilometres.
The manufacturer hasn’t revealed any significant details about the interiors of the concept, except that it will have a dash that envelops the front passenger like a cocoon that offers a slew of information to the occupants via an advanced infotainment system.
Mitsubishi has been in hot water lately with the tyre pressure and fuel efficiency manipulation scandals, which led to a drastic fall in its market value. The company is now in control of Nissan, which sees a lot of potential in Mitsubishi’s future plans. And the new concepts -- the GT and the eX Concept (in picture below) -- could be the very first projects that might convert into reality after Mitsubishi came under the control of Nissan.
