Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) today said it would expand its network by opening 500 dealers and sub-dealers in tier-II and tier-III cities as company is eyeing 30 per cent growth in sales in current fiscal.
"We will be adding 500 new dealers, sub-dealers in current fiscal which will take our network's total strength of 2,000. The main focus will be on expanding base in tier-II and tier-III cities," company's Vice-President (Sales & Marketing), Y S Guleria told reporters here today.
With about 14 per cent market share in two-wheeler segment, HMSI has set a target to sell 27.5 lakh bikes and scooters in current fiscal against 21 lakh units sold in last fiscal.
"In total sales, scooter and motorbikes will have 50 per cent each share," he said.
Buoyed by increasing demand for two wheelers, HMSI is also coming up with a new plant in Karnataka which will have installed capacity of 12 lakh units per annum.
"This new unit is expected to start operations in April 2013," he said without divulging any investment detail on the proposed plant.
HMSI is already having two plants in Haryana and Rajasthan with combined capacity of 28 lakh units annually.
