It gets a Yamaha R1-inspired split headlight setup

  • The Demon GR200R, which was first launched in Thailand, has now reached Malaysia.

  • It is powered by a 198cc single-cylinder motor that puts out 19.2PS and 17.2Nm.

  • It features LED lighting, digital instrument cluster, and USD fork.

  • From faired offerings like the KTM RC200 and feature-packed naked motorcycles like the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V to off-road bikes like the Hero xPulse 200, the 200cc segment offers a wide variety of options. No wonder it is so popular among those taking their first steps in performance motorcycling. That said, the segment isn’t really favoured in international markets, with only a handful of products and one such bike - the Demon GR200R.

It was first launched in Thailand in 2020 and has now made its way to Malaysia. It costs just as much as the RC200 in India: RM 11,388 (Rs 2.05 lakh). The bike may never make it to India since taxes and duties would increase the Demon’s price by a massive chunk. But, here’s why the bike has piqued our interest.

The GPX is a quirky looking motorcycle and we mean it in a good way. It borrows design cues from superbikes. For instance, the front fairing-mounted headlamp reminds us of the Yamaha YZF R1 while its tail light has a similar brow-type pattern as seen on the Ducati Panigale V4. These design cues, paired with the GR’s aggressive fairings, tinted visor, neon red elements and 10-spoke alloys, result in a rather snazzy motorcycle.

On the feature front, the bike gets a full-digital LED instrument cluster and all-LED lighting. For added premium-ness, GPX has also thrown in a USD fork with a copper finish.

The bike is powered by a 198cc single-cylinder motor that puts out 19.2PS and 17Nm, 6PS and 2Nm shy of the RC200. The motor sits in the proven trellis frame and the bike weighs in at 155kg.

As mentioned earlier, there’s little to no chance of the Demon coming to India. If you’re looking for a sporty sub-200cc bike, you could check out the Yamaha YZF R15 V3 which was recently updated with a swanky new red paint job.
