It’s the flagship ADV offering from the Italian brand

Ducati’s onslaught in the Indian market continues. The Italian brand will be riding in three new bikes in June: the 2021 Ducati Panigale V4 and Diavel 1260 will be introduced in the first week and the Multistrada V4 in the last week. The new Multistrada V4 will be its third V4 offering and here’s what it’ll pack:

On the design front, the Ducati Multistrada V4 looks much sleeker and compact, compared to the predecessor. Its LED headlight with DRLs and the stubby beak have been redesigned. The massive 22-litre tank tapers at the tail section so the rider can ride in comfort and have better control while off-roading.

You also get a small storage compartment in the tank with a USB port to charge your phone. For optimal cooling, there are various ducts to channel the air towards the motor. The bike also features rear cylinder deactivation during idling to save fuel.

Plonked in its aluminium monocoque frame is a BS6-complaint 1158cc V4 Granturismo engine, pumping out a healthy 172PS and 124Nm on tap. It’s mated to a 6-speed gearbox that comes with a bi-directional quickshifter. The new V4 motor doesn’t breach the 200PS mark but it’s 1.2kg lighter and more compact than the L-twin motor seen on the Multistrada 1260.

Expect nothing but class-leading electronic equipment on the Ducati Multistrada V4. The bike gets four riding modes: sport, touring, urban and enduro. It also features wheelie control, cornering ABS, traction control as well as smartphone connectivity with the 5-inch TFT display on the base variant and 6.5-inch screen on the higher-spec variants.

The Multistrada V4 will be available in three variants: Standard, S, and S Sport. All three models get a fully adjustable 50mm Marzocchi inverted fork with 170mm travel and an adjustable monoshock with 180mm of travel.

The top-spec variants come with a semi-active Skyhook suspension, radar-based cruise control system, vehicle hold control, and cornering lights. The Multistrada V4 S Sport gets even more goodies, such as the Akrapovic end can, carbon-fibre mudguard, and a sport livery.

Braking hardware comprises 320mm discs with Brembo four-piston callipers at the front and a 265mm disc at the rear. Dual-channel ABS is standard.

The Ducati Multistrada V4 rolls on a 19-inch front and a 17-inch rear alloy wheel. However, Ducati might offer spoked tubeless wheels as an option.

Expect the Multistrada V4 to carry a base price of Rs 20 to Rs 22 lakh. Its list of foes will include the BMW R 1250 GS and Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin.
