The Yamaha YZF-R15 V4's global debut on Indian soil and the launch of the Yamaha Aerox 155 made us wonder whether Team Blue has finally stepped up its game. Though there's no word on what is on the cards for the Indian market, here's what we'd like to see from the Japanese bike maker in the country next year:

Yamaha YZF-R3
Yamaha pulled the plug on the R3 owing to stringent emission norms. Though the supersport was loved for its refined engine and capable chassis, the weak tyres and high asking price kept buyers at bay. Since then, the Yamaha R3 has received new bodywork and a few more updates, including a Euro 5-compliant engine. Now, with the locally assembled Kawasaki Ninja 300 back on Indian roads, perhaps Yamaha too could do the same and price the bike competitively. If and when the new R3 arrives, expect it to be priced at Rs 3.50 lakh.

Yamaha YZF-R7
Currently, the mid-displacement sportbike segment only has the super-expensive Aprilia RS660, and the Yamaha R7 could be the suitable affordable alternative to that. It packs no fancy electronics and uses the MT-07-sourced 689cc parallel-twin mill putting out 73.4PS and 67Nm. This should make the bike easier to live with. However, to price it right, Yamaha would need to rely on localisation. At Rs 10 lakh, wouldn't the Yamaha R7 be an enticing option for everyday use and track duties?

Yamaha NMax 155
The Aerox is fun and sporty, and even convenient to some extent. However, the stiff suspension, limited legroom, and wind protection are the chinks in its armour. And that's where its 'practical' sibling comes in. The Yamaha NMax utilises the same 155cc liquid-cooled engine but is packaged in a way that would appeal even to mature riders who seek comfort along with performance.
