The Renault Duster started the compact SUV segment in 2012, and is now finally back in the Indian market in an all-new avatar. This time around, it has dropped the raw and rugged look for a sharper new design, a modern interior layout, new features, and improved cabin space. And with this renewed focus, the Duster is headed straight towards the Hyundai Creta, the car which has always been the best-seller of the segment ever since its launch in 2015. This rivalry is once again getting heated up, especially this time, with the Duster being much more capable than before, to prove why it was once the most loved in this segment.
The Creta is one of Hyundai’s highest selling models, and it comes with a very modern yet mature exterior design. It also offers a premium cabin experience and a lengthy feature list.
Both cars come with distinctive styling, but which one of these looks the best? Let’s find that out!
The 2026 Renault Duster and the Hyundai Creta both fall under the compact SUV segment with very similar sizes. But to find out which one might be the better one, let's have a detailed look at their dimensions:

The new Renault Duster has grown in size, thanks to the new platform, and it is clearly evident. In all aspects, the Duster is bigger with a respectable margin. The Duster also offers a considerably larger and well-designed boot, which makes it easier to organize and carry all your luggage more efficiently.

The Hyundai Creta is a well-sized SUV, but the Duster easily overtakes the Creta here.

Renault Duster Wins!
Let’s begin with the new Renault Duster first. At the front, it gets a high bonnet that has been given a sculpted look and a bold stance with multiple muscular elements to match the tough theme. The centre sports a large gloss-black grille, with ‘DUSTER’ lettering instead of the Renault logo, which shows how big a brand the ‘Duster’ name is. Complementing this grille are LED headlamps with a sleek DRL signature. The front bumper gets sharp lines, vertical cut-outs on both side edges, and a massive lower air dam as well. The lower part of the bumper also houses the foglights and front parking sensors. What’s also captivating at the front is a chunky skid plate finished in silver.

The front profile of the Hyundai Creta has an upright, bold stance and squarish styling elements with a high bonnet. Taking the centre stage is a big and rectangular grille along with the connected LED DRLs with an inverted L-shaped signature. The headlights have a square shape and are placed on the bumper. It also gets cladding on the lower part of the bumper with a comparatively smaller air dam, but the bumper does house a chunky skid plate, and horizontal cut-outs on both side edges that complete the front look. The Creta also gets front parking sensors, but what's missing here are foglights.

At the side, the new Renault Duster’s silhouette hosts the SUV's squared-off stance with a sporty look. The thick body claddings run throughout the car, and it also gets tall roof rails, a panoramic sunroof, and muscular haunches. The car sits on stylish 18-inch alloy wheels, and the rear door handle has been placed on the C-pillar for a cleaner look, which further improves the overall aesthetic.

From the side, the Hyundai Creta has a more boxy profile, which imitates mature SUVs with its bold stance, and that is exactly what customers love about the Creta. Body claddings, tall roof rails, a panoramic sunroof, and a shark fin antenna are also part of the package. What further enhances the look are 18-inch alloy wheels and a silvered-out C-pillar.

Coming at the rear end of the new Renault Duster, the design theme is a very minimalistic one with simpler yet intriguing elements. The tailgate has a very sporty look with sharp elements, including a sharply raked rear windshield and a large integrated roof spoiler that further enhances the rear look. It houses a black applique and the Duster badging. The rear bumper also gets thick claddings and striking elements along with a chunky silver skid plate. It features a new connected LED lighting strip, which also runs into the ‘C-shaped’ taillights, which also have a clear lens effect.

While the Duster has multiple sharp and sporty elements, the rear profile of the Hyundai Creta is rather a much simpler and more sober one. The tailgate is squared in design and houses connected LED taillights that imitate the inverted L-shaped signature of the DRLs at the front. And to complete the design at the rear are the bumpers with heavy claddings.

Both the Renault Duster and the Hyundai Creta target a similar set of audience, but they express it through very different design philosophies. The Duster has always had a rugged styling, which is now enhanced with sharper edges and a more aggressive stance. These tough proportions are complemented by sporty design cues, giving it a fresh presence that looks ready for both rough terrains and daily city use.

The Hyundai Creta, on the other hand, has a more urban and contemporary approach towards styling. Its bold stance, muscular proportions, and futuristic design elements are aimed at maximizing road presence while also offering a premium appeal. Rather than going raw and rugged, the Creta focuses on visual sophistication with modern styling.

To conclude, the choice comes down to whether you prefer the Duster’s rugged design evolution or the Creta’s polished, city-centric styling.
