WWDC 2025: Here's How Apple CarPlay Will Look With iOS 26 Update!

Each June, Apple gets on the stage and glorifies what our iPhones, Macs, and iPads will be doing better at the end of the year. Similarly, this time at WWDC 2025, it was our CarPlay’s turn to shine.

With iOS 26, Apple is giving CarPlay a thorough "facelift". This is not merely a matter of sleeker animations or some new icons. It's about CarPlay asserting itself as the driver's seat, literally, with more intelligent controls, less cluttered layouts, and an increased level of in-car integration.

A Dashboard That's Yours

The most prominent upgrade? CarPlay can now communicate with your car. With support for multi-screen, Apple's interface can now reach the instrument cluster, climate control, and everything in between.

That means you will see things like speed, battery or fuel levels, trip info, and even climate settings wrapped in Apple’s signature style. It looks clean, feels intuitive, and blends right in.

And yes, the new widget system allows you to personalise what you see where. Whether it's reminders from your calendar, battery life, or even smart home shortcuts, you can put first things first. The entire experience feels less like your phone on a larger screen and more like the operating system of the car itself.

Messages With More Context, And Siri That Actually Gets You

You will no longer have to decode monotone texts or guess who sent what. The updated Messages app in CarPlay now shows contact photos, threaded chats, and even image previews, making it easier to stay in the loop without losing focus on the road.

And Siri? She's also gotten a glow-up. With more intelligent on-device processing, she now provides you with responses that sound like something you would actually say, no more cold "OK" or unnatural "Got it" unless you really mean to. It's a minor update, but one you will find yourself grateful for.

Real-Time Weather, No App Switching Required

Want to know whether the cloud in front is chilling or planning to rain cats and dogs, enough to flood the streets? The new Weather widget in CarPlay displays current forecasts and warnings tailored to your location and direction of travel, on your home screen.

Whether there's monsoon in Mumbai or a drive to Lonavala on the weekend, knowing what to expect has just become (and stayed) simpler (and safer). No more frantic phone-tugging or screaming at Siri to check if it's raining. Useful in India? Maybe… Maybe not... 

When Can You Use It?

Apple says this new CarPlay experience will roll out later in 2025, in line with the rollout of iOS 26. But there's a catch; it will need the support of automakers.

So far, brands such as Porsche, Ford, Mercedes, and Jaguar Land Rover have joined hands, but others are likely to follow as well.

If you are behind the wheel of a 2024 vehicle, chances are you will still have the stock CarPlay. But on future models, especially the luxury and high-end ones, this new face may be the standard.
