Dekho, woh aa gaya! Or at least it looks like it. The Honda Activa Electric scooter has been one of the hotly anticipated e-scooters for some time now. Now, Honda hasn’t shown any EV with the Activa nameplate at EICMA 2024 but it has unveiled the all-new CUV e. It is based on Honda’s SC e concept.

The design of the production-ready Honda CUV e is very similar to the concept vehicle, which is a good thing because it looks really sleek. The wide headlight on the front apron, flush-fitting pillion footrests and taillight bar look really good. It is available in three colour options: Pearl Jubilee White, Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic and Premium Silver Metallic.

The electric scooter has dual 1.3kWh capacity removable battery packs with a claimed range of over 70km. Honda claims that each battery requires 3 hours to be charged from 0-75%. The motor’s peak power output is 6kW with a claimed top speed of 80kmph. The suspension setup consists of a telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers. It has a 190mm disc brake at the front and a 110mm drum brake at the rear. It has a wheelbase of 1,310mm, seat height of 765mm and a ground clearance of 270mm with 12-inch wheels at both ends.

On the features front, the standard variant gets a 5-inch TFT console while the Honda RoadSync Duo variant gets a 7-inch TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity for navigation, call and SMS alerts and music playback. The scooter has all-LED lighting, USB-C charging port and three riding modes: Standard, Sport and Econ.

The Activa Electric that Honda’s been working on for the Indian market is likely to be based on the CUV e scooter. It has the specifications, hardware and features to compete in the market but the claimed range output needs to be more than 70km. If Honda manages to do that, then this scooter can make a serious mark in the industry like the petrol-powered Activa have been doing for decades now.
