Aprilia is all set to fire up the sub-500cc multi-cylinder bike segment tomorrow by launching the RS457 – its brand new supersport – which was globally unveiled earlier this month. And before the launch, here’s all you need to know.
With an aggressive, ‘proper’ supersport design language, the RS457 retains the appeal of an Aprilia. And of course, it takes styling inspiration from the bigger Aprilia supersports.

Powered by an all-new 457cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder engine making 47.6PS, which is more than the Kawasaki Ninja 400’s 45PS and KTM RC 390’s 43.5PS. And with a kerb weight of 175kg, it is just 3kg more than the RC, so that should make for a fun riding experience.

In terms of underpinnings, the RS457 runs a 41mm USD fork & monoshock, both with preload adjustability. Braking hardware comprises 320mm and 220mm discs with dual-channel ABS and a supermoto mode for sliding the rear. The 17-inch alloys are wrapped in TVS Eurogrip Protorq Extreme tyres.
Even the electronics and features are pretty fancy: 5-inch TFT console. Bluetooth connectivity (optional). 3 ride modes and 3-level traction control.
Now of course, the launch is tomorrow and we expect it to come bearing a price tag around the Rs 4.25 lakh mark (ex-showroom).
