2025 Yamaha MT 15 Version 2.0 VS Hero Xtreme 250R: Features Compared

For us Indians, one thing which we always look out for is the number of features that are present on a motorcycle. Be it a crisp TFT console or multiple rider aids, we like our two-wheelers packed with them.

Yamaha recently launched the 2025 MT-15 Version 2.0, and boy, it is one of the most feature-rich naked motorcycles in the 150-160cc segment. That said, is it really that feature-rich in its price bracket? Well, its biggest rival is the Hero Xtreme 250R. Even though it’s got a much bigger engine, at Rs 1,79,900, it is in fact Rs 600 more affordable than the Yamaha at Rs 1,80,500 (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi). Let’s have a deep dive into the features both motorcycles come with:

The Yamaha MT 15 Version 2.0 comes with a TFT instrument console, which, in our opinion, looks quite good. The console supports Bluetooth connectivity via Yamaha’s Y-connect application, which enables call/SMS alerts, turn-by-turn navigation, music control, ride telemetry data, among others. The display has a neat, easy-to-read layout. The bike also comes with all-LED lighting.

As for the Hero Xtreme 250R, the bike gets an LCD instrument console that also supports smartphone connectivity and ride telemetry data on the app. Sure, the LCD console does the job, but in our experience, this one’s quite cluttered, hard to navigate through and when under direct sunlight, you will feel that it's not bright enough. The Hero too comes with all-LED lighting as standard.

Both bikes do come with dual-channel ABS as standard, but it is the Hero Xtreme 250R in which you can switch off the rear ABS. The Hero also comes with two ABS modes: Road and Track, which alter the ABS intervention levels, along with a drag and lap timer. The bike comes with stoppie control, which prevents the rear wheel from lifting off the ground during hard braking. A feature that is exclusive to Yamaha is traction control, although this should’ve been present on the Xtreme as it makes more power and is quite faster than the smaller Yamaha.

ZigSays

For a 150cc motorcycle, the 2025 Yamaha MT-15 is quite feature-rich. That said, all the features come at a cost (quite literally). At Rs 1,80,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi), it is quite expensive. But you do get the bragging rights of having the most feature-loaded 150cc bike in India, not to mention Japanese engineering.

That said, if you’re a fan of raw performance, the Hero Xtreme 250R might just be the one for you. Even though the LCD console is not something you would boast about, it has you covered on all the basics. But at such a lucrative price tag, there is hardly any bike which comes close to the Xtreme 250R, making it a fantastic value for money bike.
