A new homologation document for an upcoming Ather scooter has recently emerged online. According to this document, Ather is gearing up to introduce the 450S HR where 'HR' likely stands for 'high range.'

The document reveals that this new scooter will be equipped with a 3.76kWh battery pack. Thanks to this larger battery, the Ather 450S HR boasts a 156km certified range, 10km more than the 450X. In terms of power, it maintains a peak output of 5.4kW, in line with the 450S, and slightly less than the 450X's 6.4kW motor. For perspective, the current 450S features a 2.9kWh battery capacity.

While the HR variant retains the same wheelbase, width, and height as its siblings, it has a slightly shorter overall length. The top speed of the Ather 450S HR is 80kmph, which is 10kmph slower than the 450S and 450X. The upcoming scooter offers four distinct riding modes, including Eco, SmartEco, Ride, and Sport, but misses out on the Warp mode.

With the 450S HR’s larger battery, it's reasonable to expect a real-world range of around 130km, an improvement that will appeal to many riders. And that could come with a decent price hike over the current 450S’ Rs 1,29,999 (ex-showroom Bengaluru, including FAME II subsidies) price tag. As for the official launch, it’ll likely be sometime later this month or early October 2023. Rivals for the Ather 450S include the likes of the Ola S1 Air, TVS iQube and the Bajaj Chetak.
