  • Q. Hello, I wish to purchase an automatic petrol car under a budget of Rs. 11 lakhs. My travelling is mainly in the city (Ahmedabad). I have screened a few cars but very confused which one to choose. My choices are: 1. Tata Nexon Petrol XZA+ (which will be approx Rs. 10.25 lakhs on road) 2. Hyundai Verna Petrol EX AT (which will be approx Rs. 11.50 lakhs on road) 3. Toyota Yaris Petrol J CVT (which will be approx Rs. 11.06 lakhs on road). I test drove the Nexon and Yaris and had planned Verna also in this week. I couldn’t find any difference in the two cars other than that the Yaris is more premium looking and smooth in operation, however it missed out the touch screen in J variant which is essential for me as I am a learner. Further the 15 minutes test drive didn’t tell me anything. Please help in selecting and also request you to mention the reason for buying the car. Waiting for response. Thanks

Tata Nexon XZA+: For all the buyers looking for an automatic Nexon, this is the variant to go for. Available only with the top-end XZA+ variant, the Nexon AMT gives you hassle-free driving experience in city traffic and even out on the highways. The manual mode further gives you an option to take control of the gears. Moreover, the creep function is a real boon in bumper-to-bumper traffic. Hyunda Verna EX : The additional goodies over the base variant makes it a more complete modern-day car. It's not the variant to buy if you've shortlisted the petrol Verna for yourself. For that, look one rung above i.e. Hyundai Verna SX. Toyorta Yaris J: The base variant covers almost all bases and Toyota’s emphasis on safety deserves a special mention since it’s the only car in its segment that gets a whopping 7 airbags right from the get go. Even the top variants of its rivals don’t get as many airbags. That said, it misses out on speed-sensing door locks, which could have been integrated given Toyota’s focus on safety. This variant is only advisable if you have a tight budget but have shortlisted the Yaris anyway. Read more: Tata Nexon Crash Tested; Scores 4 Stars - https://bit.ly/2nnXmWN

There are many cars with safety features and comfort as well. Almost all high end cars have air bags which surrounds passengers. If you had mentioned other features , price etc it would have been easy to answer

  • Q. As I bought J CVT recently can I change music system?
    Sol | 3 weeks ago

You will have to ask the dealer, whether he can put a touchscreen in it or not. Also any electrical changes should only be done by the dealer or a good trusted mechanic, as sometimes some untrained mechanics do not put relays etc. whilst changing electrical accessories, which overloads the ECU causing fires.

The front AC on the J variant does an excellent cooling job even when it's 45° in the Summers.

  • Q. How is the pickup? Ground clearance?
    Zigwheels | 7 months ago

Yaris is available with a single 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine. The motor makes 107PS of power and 140Nm of torque and can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-step automatic CVT. Now, it isn’t the most sprightly sedan around, but it does a phenomenal job of commuting. Yaris has a ride height of 160mm. • Q. Hi I am looking to buy VX mt model for long drives 2000 kms on each trip every week. Is it good for long drive? What's the ground clearance? How is the suspension for Indian road conditions? What's the on road price?
    Vinay | 10 months ago

Yes, yaris is good for long drives as it is a very comfortable car to drive, very smooth, good mileage ,almost 18km/l on long drive, very safe on our dangerous highways due to 7 airbags,ABS,EBD.excellent powerful brakes. Ground clearance 163 mm and even more on laden vehicle Suspension is on the stiffer side and tuned perfectly for our broken roads and Yaris breezes through broken roads. OTR price available on zigwheels and other motoring websites. But personally I will recommend CVT version.
