Perfect balance

4.7

While going to test drive the Polo. I knew that it was a 10-year-old 'new' car, But I still feel it is a strong contender, Which is often overlooked. To explain further, here are the positives & negatives of the polo TSI. Positive: 1. Safety had scored 4 stars in GNCAP with a good score for structural integrity. 2. Great handling that the polo is a driver's car is a statement beaten to death, but that is a fact. It turns in beautifully and feels chuckable with great confidence. The steering is sharp & direct, adding to the confidence. 3. Great ride its stability and comfort at high speeds on open roads are quite well known. It feels stiffer on poor roads and bumps at lower speeds but is not uncomfortable. While some may call it stiff, I call it the perfect balance, as the car settles down on such poor road surface and hence is less tiring and doesn't make passengers feel nauseated as a softer wallowing suspension would. 4. The engine is a gem and pulls very strongly and the manual is a great gearbox with decent shift quality. It has a great drive train. 5. Cruise control makes drives less of a hassle. 6. Factory fitted tinted glasses are a boon in our hot country. 7. Good audio and sound insulation for external noise. 8. Timeless exterior and interior and great build quality. 9. Good boot space. Negatives: 1. Rear seat legroom is less as compared to rivals. However a major caveat, I feel the seats are more comfortable with better under-thigh support. So one may actually be more comfortable here than its rival's rear seats. This can be perceived only after long journeys. So the lack of space should not be a concern if everyone in your family is less than or equal to 5'11'' or you are the only one above 6'2. Low ground clearance, especially the lower end of the front bumper. Which can strike ramps and speed breakers. 3. No Isofix mounts for child seats. It's something very important for a family. This is missing for quite a bummer. 4. Volkswagen service is perceived to be expensive and less consistent as compared to rivals. This may only be true for service outside the warranty period. In the end, Polo TSI still trumps its rivals in many areas, which are the very basics of what makes a good car. It may below on features and a sense of space in the rear, but I feel all those will be quickly forgotten once somebody owns an ad that drives this beauty and takes his family for those long drives.

Rear seats

3.0

Its fun to drive car, not for tall people surely, not enough space in rear seats, not enough power in the engine... Accelerates slowly, but very stable at high speed, feels like full of confidence while driving a polo
