FZ 25 Teaser

Yamaha India has teased the launch of the 2020 FZ 25 on its Facebook page. Now before you get too excited let’s be clear that the new bike won’t be launched in April due to the ongoing coronavirus lockdown in the country. The new Yamaha FZ 25 is likely to go on sale in May, with deliveries starting by the end of May.

We would like to remind our readers that Yamaha unveiled the 2020 FZ 25 BS6 variant a day before Auto Expo 2020. The new bike is available in two variants: FZ 25 and FZS 25. As part of the BS6 update, the new Yamaha FZ 25 features a new headlight with bi-LED projector setup. One of the biggest problems we had with the old FZ 25 was its poor headlight. This new update should hopefully fix that. Other additions include an engine cowl and two new colour options: Metallic Black and Racing Blue.

On the features front, the 2020 Yamaha FZ 25 gets a negative LCD display instrument console and a side stand engine cut-off system. The Yamaha FZS 25 sports a larger windscreen and knuckle guards. It is available in three shades: Dark Cyan, Dark Matte Blue and Metallic White.

On the mechanical front, the 249cc air-cooled and fuel-injected single-cylinder motor produces 20.8PS at 8000rpm and 20.1Nm at 6000rpm. Despite being BS6 compliant, the engine has dropped a meagre 0.1PS and 0.1Nm, while gaining just 1kg. Yamaha India hasn’t shared the pricing for the new FZ 25 and the FZS 25. We expect the former to retail for Rs 1.40 lakh and the latter for Rs 1.45 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom-Delhi). The 2020 Yamaha FZ 25 will compete against the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V.
