Tata Motors has revealed that it has collaborated with IIT Bombay Racing Team to help develop an electric race car called the"EVoK". The IIT Bombay Racing Team comprises of 70 engineers and is India's Formula Student Electric team that aims to "revolutionize electric mobility in India through its focus on sustainable technologies and innovations." The team competed at the prestigious Formula Student UK 2019 that is held annually after the British Grand Prix at the Silverstone Circuit in the UK in July. The Indian team made a name for itself by achieving an all-time best overall rank of 30 out of the 118 participating teams and secured third place amongst the teams competing in the electric category.
Tata Motors also revealed that it has supported the IIT Bombay Racing Team for the past four years as a key sponsor. This year however, Tata extended its collaboration by providing expert insights, mentorship and granting access to testing facilities. This included giving them access to the high-speed ERC test track in Pune. Aside from that, the IIT Bombay students were also awarded with two-month internship opportunities at Tata Motors as a part of their association to gain further knowledge.

To commemorate the team’s hard work, Tata Motors also rolled out a 4-part campaign. It focuses on the team’s long journey that started from the inception to the development of the 'EVoK' electric race car, and the team’s success at the Formula Student UK 2019. This campaign aims to generate awareness about e-mobility, make electric vehicles mainstream and dispel myths associated with EV technology. It has already garnered attention online with over two lakh views on their social media platforms.
