Here’s a small, but good news for motorists across India. The government of India has eased the petrol and diesel fuel rates in India, albeit marginally. Petrol price has been slashed by Rs 0.31 per litre, while diesel price has been cut by Rs 0.71 a litre.
Diesel prices have seen a drop in price a couple of times earlier in the recent past, but this is the first price cut for petrol after three consecutive hikes. Earlier this year in May, the fuel prices saw a steep hike, with petrol price increased by Rs 3.13 a litre and diesel shot up by Rs 2.71 per litre. To top it, in June price of petrol was further hiked by Rs 0.64, but diesel price was reduced by Rs 1.35 per litre.
After the change in price, petrol will now cost Rs 74.52 per litre and the new price of diesel is Rs 57.64 in Mumbai. In Delhi the price of petrol and diesel is now Rs 66.62 and Rs 50.22 per litre, respectively.
